Carolyn graduated from Shortridge High School, class of 1945, and DePauw University in 1949. She was a member
of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Following graduation, she married John D. Tucker on October 8th, 1949. They had a wonderful marriage which lasted
68 years. As a couple, they spent many winters in Naples, FL and summers at Lake Maxinkuckee, in Culver, IN.
Carolyn passed away on August 8, 2018, three weeks following the death of her treasured husband,
John D Tucker, Sr.
Carolyn was a prominent citizen of the Indianapolis area and served the community well. Her service earned the Sagamore
of the Wabash award. For 25 years, Mrs. Tucker was Public Relations Director of Crossroads Rehabilitation Center. She
was an active and sustaining member of the Junior League. Meridian Street Methodist Church was an important part of
her life for 65 years. Carolyn was also a committed volunteer in local and state politics; culminating in attendance at three
National Conventions.
Mrs. Tucker's son, J. David Tucker (wife Jerilyn), and daughter, Tracy Tucker Schrimsher (husband Roy) will miss her love
and support. She was an important presence in the lives of her four grandchildren, Matthew and Allen Tucker, Stephanie
McCoy, and Steven Schrimsher. Eight great-grandchildren loved their "Gooma." A special presence in the Tucker's lives was
their caregiver, Deidra Robinson.
A joint service to celebrate Carolyn and John will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Meridian Street
Methodist Church (5500 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis). A life celebration with fellowship and greetings will follow the service.
