John D. Tucker, Sr  



John D. Tucker, Sr., 95, of Indianapolis, passed away July 16, 2018. He was born January 9, 1923 in Fairland, Indiana to the late Fred and Claire (Conner) Tucker.


John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. John graduated from DePauw University in 1948 and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.

John retired as the CEO of Indiana Limestone out of Bedford, Indiana. He was very proud of the work that he did, and the buildings and monuments throughout the world where Indiana Limestone was used.

He was a member of the Service Club of Indianapolis and Meridian Hills Country Club. John also enjoyed playing golf, traveling, spending his summers on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, IN and winters in Naples, FL.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn (Costin) Tucker; children, John David (Jerilyn) Tucker, Jr. and Tracy (Roy) Schrimsher; four grandchildren, Matt (Amy) Tucker, Allen (Megan) Tucker, Stephanie (Dan) McCoy, Steven Schrimsher; eight great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Bryant; and Deidra Robinson, caregiver.

He was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Tucker and great granddaughter, Callie McCoy.

John and his family spent 37 years at their cottage on Lake Maxinkuckee. He also donated the "Welcome to Culver" monument at the intersection of St. Rd. 17 and 10.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn (Costin) Tucker; children, John David (Jerilyn) Tucker, Jr. and Tracy (Roy) Schrimsher; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren ; sister, Barbara Bryant; and Deidra Robinson, caregiver.
