His first job as a mechanic was for his father-in-law Chuck Baker who owned the Standard

Soon after, Ron James was hired. Later Larry purchased the building at 215 W. Jefferson
St. which remains the current location.
Ron James will continue as new owner and operator of “Hammer’s Garage.”
Hunting and fishing in earlier years, and mushroom hunting in later years, were his
favorite past times. He was known to go to extreme lengths to protect the location of his
mushroom hunting spots. Hammer’s happiest moments were s haring stories at the garage.
