Bruce Nowakowski

Bruce Nowakowski Aug. 28, 1955 - Nov. 27, 2014

CULVER - Bruce Nowakowski passed away November 27, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Bruce was born in Knox, Indiana on August 28, 1955 to Stanley and Agnes Nowakowski of North Judson, Indiana, and resided in North Judson with his parents until graduation from high school.

He moved to Culver around 1975, and remained a resident until his death.

In 1980 he married Mary Lynn Nuelle, and had two daughters, Sarah Lynn Nowakowski and Erica Marie (Nowakowski) Knapp.

Mary Lynn preceded him in death in 2008.

In 1987, he married Betsy Marshall in Plymouth, Indiana.

Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Nowakowski, and is survived by his father, Stanley Nowakowski of North Judson, his sister, Alice Bau of North Judson, wife, Betsy Nowakowski of Culver, their two daughters, Sarah Lynn Nowakowski (Curtis Bentley) and granddaughter, Molly Rose Bentley of Elkhart, and Erica Marie (Nowakowski) Knapp (Joshua) of Mishawaka, and his nephews, Lawrence Bau (Kim) of Knox, and David Bau (Jennifer) of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Bruce and Betsy opened Northstar Inc. in April 1994, servicing the surrounding communities.

He was always willing to help a person in need, or head out on a snowy night when a customer was without heat. He was proud to provide quality service to his customers who often became good friends.

He was a proud member of Hoosier Old Wheels car club since the late 90's, and was an avid car collector. He enjoyed driving his cars around on perfect summer days with the wind blowing in his hair. He loved to go to car shows and mingle with his buddies, then chow down with his pals from Chow Hound Cruisers.

He was very proud of his daughters and welcomed his first granddaughter, Molly (of Sarah and Curtis) into the world earlier this year. He had the honor of walking his daughter Erica down the aisle two years ago.

He enjoyed holidays and the memories that were made each year with his children and wife.

Bruce could lighten any situation with his infectious laugh and endless jokes, and enjoyed playing pranks on everyone. He loved to build new things and added on/remodeled numerous times around his home with his wife through the years. He was taken from this world too soon and will be missed by many, but his memory and life will live on through his family and friends.

That man is a success- Who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; Who has gained the respect of his good people and The love of all who knew him and to be missed And mourned by so many; Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; Who leaves the world better than he found it; Who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty; Who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
