Lemuel Crabb
Although most of his years have been spent in Culver , Lemuel A. Crabb must claim
Kosciusko county as his birth place. When three months old his parent moved east
of Kewanna, where he lived until he came to Culver 37 years ago.
For four summers he worked for William Kline and then after marriage Mr. Crabb
returned to Kewanna for five years. But he co uldn't stay away from this community
and he returned to follow the carpener trade. It is a source of pride with him that
he helped build Culver , having erected six houses and remodeled a number of others.
It was 27 years ago last October that he opened a used furnitire shop where his present
business is located. Fourteen years ago he added a line of new furniture and has been
expanding ever since. In fact, he can recall at least 20 changes he has made to the
building to modernize the structure and give his business more space.
For 16 years Mr. Crabb was engaged in carrying the mail from the post office to the depot.
For about 20 years he has been trustee at the Evangelical church. The biggest job in that
capacity being to help plan and build the new church structure a few years ago. For 21 years
he served as treasurer of the Evangelical Sunday School. He claims his chief hobby is
playing with his grandchildren.
