Miss Ann ELLSWORTH, a longtime and prominent resident on the east shore of Lake Maxinkuckee at Culver , died this morning at a hospital in Evansville, Ill. She was 81 years old.

Born in Lafayette in April of 1883, she was the daughter of Edward E. ELLSWORTH, who was treasurer of Purdue university for many years. She also was a descendant of a former U.S. Supreme Court chief justice from New England.

Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Springvale cemetery, Lafayette.






Anne Ellsworth Dies In Illinois Hospital_At 80

Anne Ellsworth, aged 80, of - 2210 East Shore Drive, died at the Evanston Hospital, Evanston, Illinois, Thursday morning, Aug. 20, after a brief illness.

Burial was in the Springdale Cemetery at Lafayette, Indiana, where graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, with Chaplain Allen Bray III, (USNR) officiating.

Anne Ellsworth w a s born in Lafayette, Indiana, on April 10, 1883. Her father was Edward Augustus Ellsworth and her mother was Mariem Smith Ellsworth. She graduated from Purdue University where her father was bursar for many years.

she has been a resident of the East Shore of Lake Maxinkuckee for 40 years. She had charge of the Maxinkuckee Inn, now the Culver Inn, during the 1930's.

She was a descendent of Oliver Ellsworth, a distinguished early Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Her interests embraced the entire community and she was widely known for her hospitality and artistic accomplishments. In her later years she was active in the real estate business.
