Erecting Clinic
Osteopathic Medical Center Will Open During November
Through the combined farsighted effforts of Dr. E. D. Powers and Dr. F. A. Ikirt
a handsome spledidly equipped new osteopathic medical center is being erected at
the southeast corner of Cass and Ohio Streets, just a block south of the school
building.
Dr. Powers and Dr. Ikirt have appropriatley named their new professional quarters
"The Culver Clinic"
The beautiful Indiana limestone structure, which will be a distinct credit to the
community, will be completed during the month of November. An illustration of the
of the arhitects sill appear in an early issue of the Citizen
The building will contain 14 large rooms and several smaller rooms for diagnostic
and treatment facilities. ALl modern diagnostic services will be available, including
X-ray and flourascope, electrocardiogram, basal metabolism and a complete blood
chemistry laboratory.
A well equipped minor surgery room will enable many treatments to be carried out right
in Culver, which previously had to be done at a distance.

Joins Staff Of The Culver Clinic
1964 - May 6 - Sometime before this date G. W. Stevenson, D.O. joined the clinic as he
was advertising for a 3-4 bedroom house with large yard and woudl consoider a purchase
option
1966, Mar 17 - New Physician Joins Clinic
Dr. James R. Leach, wh has been practicing in Fort Worth,
Texas since he completed his internship in 1962, will join the
staff of the Culver Clinic within the next few days.
Dr. Leach will practice family medicine, obstetrics, and surgery
as an associate of the Culver Clinic.
Dr. Leach was born in a small north Texas town and lived on a
farm for a few years.
After completing high school, he received his education at the
University of Texas where he was graduated with a degree in pharmacy.
He then practiced pharmacy before and after an army tour of duty
of 31 months; his time in the army was spent primarily in Korea where
he was a lieutenant in the Army Medical Service Corps.
Dr. Leach enrolled in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery,
Des Moines, Iowa , and was graduated in 1961; he then served his
internship at Fort Worth Osteopathic Hospital and entered
private practice in Fort Worth.
Dr. Leach is married and has four sons.
He is a member of various professional and civic organizations and the
Episcopal Church .
He plans to have his family join him in Culver in June at the close
of the present school year.

1968. Jul 75 - Dr. J. E. Manns Joins Clinic Staff
John E. Mann, D. O. and family have recently moved to Culver where Dr. Mann
has become associated with Dr. James D. Leach and Dr. G. W. Stevenson. Jr.
at the Culver Clinic.
Dr. Mann was born and raised in Elkhart County, Indiana, having graduated from
Concord High School and having received a B.A. degree from Goshen College.
He has worked in Germany on refugee housing construction, and in a church
hospital in Puerto Rico as a pharmacist and x-ray technician.
He has also been employed at Mile Laboratories as a control microbiologist.
Dr. Mann received his D. O. degree from Chicago College of Osteopathy in
1967 and has completed a one year rotating internship at the South Bend
Osteopathic Hospital.
Mrs. Jean Mann was raised in western Pennsylvania and received her degree
in education at Goshen College. This past year she taught in the. Penn Harris
Madison school district
They have two sons, James, age 9, who will be in fourth grade, and Jay,
age 7, who will be in the second grade
