    Emil "Bud" Ruhnow Jr., 86, of Culver passed away peacefully at his home on September 4, 2012.

    Bud was born in Chicago, IL on September 16, 1925 to Emil and Anna (Mueller) Ruhnow.

    The family moved to North Judson in the 1930's and then bought a farm on the outskirts of Culver. Bud attended Leiters Ford School.

    He was married in 1952 to Mary Ann Busart, built his own home on Sage Road, and raised his family there. Mary Ann passed away in 1983

    In 1994 Bud was married to Bobetta (Cummins) Washburn. She survives.

    On September 11, 1944, Bud joined the Navy and served n the South Pacific Theater on the USS L.S.T. 1027 until his discharge in April 1946. He crossed the equator in Pago Pago, Samoa in March 1944 and became a Trusty Shellback.

    Upon his discharge from the Navy, Bud worked a short time at Studebakers and then went into business with his father in Ruhnow's Plumbing and Heating. Bud bought the business from his father and continued in the plumbing, heating, sheet metal business until his retirement.

    Bud was Past Commander and a Lifetime member of Finney Shilling VFW Post 6919 and a member of Collins-Tasch American Legion Post 399.

    In addition to his wife Bobetta, Bud is survived by his children - Margaret (Dale) Bowersox, Richard (Sheila) Ruhnow, Denise Ruhnow, and Gail (John Reininga) Ruhnow; his step-children - Larry Washburn and Jacqueline (Scott) Crull; 7 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Edward, Gertrude, and Crystal; and wife Mary Ann Ruhnow.

    A time of visitation will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Tom Padberg will officiate services at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery in Monterey.

    CULVER - Services for Mrs. Mary Ann Ruhnow, 50, of 19879 Old State Road 17, who died Monday morning in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, following an extended illness, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Rev. Matthew Kafka, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Monterey. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bonine Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by memorial services conducted by the VFW Post 6919 Ladies Auxiliary, of which she was a nember. Memorial contributions nay be made to the Marshall County Cancer Association. She was born May 19, 1933, in Culver, where she lived her lifetime. On March 15, 1952, in Culver, she married Emil Ruhnow Jr. He survives along with three daughters, Mrs. Dale (Margaret Ann) Bowersox and Miss Gail Ruhnow, both of Culver and Mrs. David (Denise) Tharp of West Lafayette; and a son, Richard of Culver; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Dolores) Jones of Culver and Mrs. William (Martha) Shaw Indianapolis; a brother, Bernard Busart of Culver; and her father, Walter Busart of Culver - South Bend Tribune Sep 27 1983

      Richard A. Ruhnow, 69, of Monterey, passed away peacefully at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Majestic Care West Allen in Fort Wayne.

      Born April 25, 1953, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Emil and Mary Ann (Busart) Ruhnow. He was a Culver High School graduate.

      Richard was a retired pipefitter and a member of Local 172 in South Bend. He also owned and operated the Leiters Ford Tavern.

      Survivors include his wife, Sheila Ruhnow of Monterey; children Matthew Ruhnow (Michelle) of Fishers, Andrew Ruhnow of Indianapolis and Troy Rose of Georgia, sisters Margaret Bowersox, Denise Tharp and Gail Ruhnow and grandchildren Caden Ruhnow, Connor Ruhnow and TJ Sholes.

      A memorial gathering of family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at Rans Funeral Homes & C rematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna.

      Memorial contributions can be made to the Fulton County Animal Shelter.
