F. W. Ward Died at Son's Country Home
Frederick William Ward, 96, passed away Saturday morning at the home of his son, Peirce Ward, of
Indian Hills farm, two miles northwest of Richland Center.
Mr. Ward, who has made his; home with his son since the spring of 1944, had been in good health up
until the past few weeks.
The deceased was born in Melbourne, Derbyshire, England, on October 6, 1848, and came to this
country with his parents when but six years of age.
His father established a textile business in Boston and later he was associated with his father in
this business.
He moved to Chicago when he was 21 and a few years later went to Lafayette, Ind.
Mr. Ward was well known here as an East Side cottager for a long, period of years, occupying the
Peirce-Ward cottage, which was built about 56 years ago and is now being used by the fifth generation
of the same family.
With his passing another drops out of the dwindling ranks of pioneer cottagers.
Mr. Ward was united in marriage with Elizabeth Peirce, daughter of Martin L. Peirce, who was the first
treasurer of Purdue university, on July 21, 1874.
The Wards resided in Lafayette until 1920, at which time they moved to California.
His wife preceded him in death in 1927.
In September of 1929, he was united in marriage with Fanny Dressler of Lafayette and soon afterward took
up their residency at State College, Pa. For several years the couple spent their years. in Florida, and
for the past year. and a half his wife has been residing with a relative in the East, while Mr. Ward was
making his home with his son, who with the widow are the sole survivors.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Bradshaw chapel, Lafayette, Ind., and interment was in
the Spring Vale cemetery there. - citizen Jul 18 1945

MRS. FANNY CRAMER WARD
Services for Mrs. Fanny Cramer Ward, 80, mother of the late Parker D. Cramer, famous Chicago flyer,
will be held today in State College, Pa.
Mrs. Ward, a native of Chicago, died Friday in her home in State College.
Parker Cramer, lost in 1931 on a flight from Detroit to Copenhagen, was Co-pilot of the "Untin" Bowler,
Tribune flying boat, wrecked by an arctic 1929.
Mrs. Ward leaves another son, William H., and a daughter, Mrs. Henry Reist, State College. - -

Final Rites Held For Mrs. Ward In State College State College
State College -- Funeral services were held here Saturday for Mrs. Fannie Dresser
Cramer Ward, 80, mother of Parker D. Cramer, internationally known flier who was
lost several years ago while flying across the Atitnaic Ocean, were held on
Saturday.
The Rev. J, N. Peabody, pastor of the Episcopal Church, officiated.
Burial was in the Centre County Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ward died Thursday, Dec. 10.
She was born in Chicago and resided for a number of years in Bradford before moving
here.
She was a charter member of the Women's Club of Bradford. - - The Bradford Era Bradford,
