Rites Held For E. B. Birge Former Summer Resident
Funeral services were conducted at Bloomington, Ind. last
week for Edward Baily Birge, age 84, professor emeritus and
one of the founders of Indiana Univeristy's School of Music.
Professor Birge a summer resident of Lake Maxinkuckee for a
number of years, passed away at his home in Bloomington about
midnight last wednesday night.
He was director of music in the Indianapolis Public Schools for
20 years before joining the Indiana University staff in 1921.
The Birge's were residents of the East Shore here and will be
remember by many summer residents.
Mrs. Birge preceded her husband in death. - July 26, 1952
