Hansen, Melvin Alfred Born August 7, 1902 in Chicago, Il. passed away at his home in Dallas on Thursday, Februarry 23, 1996 after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Hansen enjoyed a long and distinguished business career in the NAPA automotive parts distribution business.

He was the Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of of Directors of General Automotive Parts Corp., headquartered in Dallas from 1963 until its merger with Genuine Parts Company of Atlanta in 1982.

He was also a partner with this company's predecessor Boosrt-Test Management Service in Indianapolis, In., which he joined in 1935. General Automotive grew to be the second largest chain of NAPA distributors in the United States

Prior to his association with Napa, he worked for the George D. Roper Corp in Rockford, Ill. and Arthur Anderson & Company in Chicago.

He was member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church, Lakewood and Brookhaven Country Clubs, The Energy Club and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis and and the Shrine.

He is survived by his wife Laurette Amundsen Hansen of Dallas; a sister, Vivian H. Grant of Hurst, Tx; a son Richard A Hansen and his wife Joan of Dallas; a daughter D. Marylin Ford of Wabash, In.; a step-daughter Katrina D. Miller and her husband, Kenneth of Denton, Tx.; eight grandchildren: Debra A Hanses of Lago Vista, Tx.; Richard A. Hansen, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Evergreen, CO., David A. Hansen and his wife Kim of Coppell, Tx.; Steven R. Ford of Wabash, Danie H. Ford and his wife, Tamara of Wabash; W. Bradley Miller and Ashley M. Miller of Denton; three great-grandchildren: Collin A Hansen, Haley N. Hansen and Abbey R. Hansen of Coppell.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy; a brother, Clarence and an infant son, Charles.

Service will be held at Sparkman-Hill-Crest Northwest Highway Chapel at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dr. Kenneth Dickson officiating.

Interment will be in the Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver, In.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and prefers that remembrances be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Crippled Children, The Highland Park United Methodist We Care Ministries or a favorite charity of Choice.

MELVIN A. HANSEN, 92, Dallas, formerly of Indianapolis, died Thursday.

Before retiring, he was vice president and chief financial officer of General Automotive Parts Corp.

Services were Saturday in Dallas. Burial will be in Culver (Ind.) Masonic Cemetery.

He was the widower of Dorothy L. Richey Hansen. Survivors: wife Lauraette Amundsen Hansen: son Richard A. Hansen: daughter Marilyn H. Ford: sister Vivian H. Grant: six grandchildren: three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Richey Hansen, 65, former Muncie resident and wife of Melvin A. Hansen, Sunday in Dallas, Tex. following an extended illness.

She was born in Michigan City and came to Muncie as a child to make her home with her aunt, Mrs. William (Mary) Hoechst, 215 Neely Ave.

Surviving besides her aunt and her husband are a son, Richard Hansen, Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. Stanley Ford, Wabash; six grandchildren and several cousins, including Mrs. William (Martha) Prigg, Muncie.

Services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan's Fall Creek Mortuary in Indianapolis at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will follow in Culver Cemetery at Culver.
