Since 1990, John Nash has served as president and chief operating officer of
Irwin Financial Corporation of Columbus, Indiana, an interrelated group of
specialized financial services companies organized as a bank holding company.
The Corporation's subsidiaries offer a broad range of financial services to
consumers and small businesses in selected markets throughout the U.S. and
Canada. He joined the organization in 1966 and has held various positions
within the Corporation. |
He began his banking career in 1961 at National City Bank in Cleveland after
completing his MBA at IU and serving in the U.S. Army.
Nash has maintained close ties to Indiana University since graduation. A life
member of the IU Alumni Association, he has served as national chairman and
chaired the fund drive for the DeVault Alumni Center. He is a past president
of the Kelley School of Business Alumni Association and is a member of the
Dean's Advisory Council. For his distinguished contributions to Indiana
University, he received the Bicentennial Medal(2020) .
His community activities have included serving as chairman of the Columbus
Economic Development Board, chairman of the Columbus Regional Hospital
Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce,
and president of the United Way of Bartholomew County. He also is a former
chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association. He and his wife, Susan, reside
in Columbus.

NASH RETIRES FROM IRWIN FINANCIAL:
John Nash, president and chief operating officer of Irwin Financial Corp. of Columbus,
retired at the end of last month. He joined Irwin Union Bank in 1966 and served in
various positions at the bank and Irwin Financial for 37 years. Nash, who is a graduate
of Indiana University, has maintained close ties to Indiana University over the years.
A life member of the Alumni Association, Nash has served as national chairman, and he was
chairman of the fund drive for the DeVault Alumni Center. Nash is a past president of the
IU Kelley School of Business Alumni Association and is a member of the Dean's Advisory
Council. Other IU affiliations include the President's Council, Well House Society, Hoosier
Hundred and Varsity Club. Designated a Sagamore of the Wabash by two Indiana governors,
Nash has been active in a number of professional and civic organizations. He served as
chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association and was a member of the Government Relations
Council of the American Bankers Association.

IUAA President's Award
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Alumni Association has selected eight alumni
to receive its 2005 President's Awards for their volunteer service to IU and their local
communities...
The President's Award is the highest honor bestowed by the association on alumni volunteers.
The awards will be presented Friday (Dec. 9) during a banquet at the Indiana State Museum in
Indianapolis.
