Edgar William Hauser, Prominent Summer Resident, Dies

    Edgar W. Hauser, prominent Hoosier industrialist and commercial builder and a well known Lake Maxinkuckee summer resident at 2480 East Shore Drie, died at Indianapolis Thursday, Dec. 16, of a cerebral hemorrage. He was 54 years old.

    Born in Cincinnati. Mr. Hauser had lived in Indianapolis 50 years and was president of E. W. HAuser consruction Co.,

    Among the buildings around Indianapolis which Mr. Hauser's firm either partially or entirely constructed are the Indianapolis Star-New building, Sears Roebouck & Co. department store; Indianapolis plant of Chevrolet Motor Division General Motors Corporation, and the College Courts, St. Regis and COmmonwelath Apartments.

    Mr. Hauser was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Pentalpoha Masonic Lodge, Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, Columbia Club, Indiana Society of Chicago, Downtown Kiwanis Club and Athenauem

    His home was at 105220 Spring Mill Road Indianapolis. - 22 Dec 1954 - Citizen

    Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Blanche Hauser, a son Edgar W. Hauser Jr., a daughter Miss Carolyn Hauser; and a grandson all of Indianapolis.

      Edgar William Hauser Jr. (1931–2013)
        Edgar Hauser Jr. 81, of Indianapolis passed away on July 21st, 2013. He is now in heaven with his wife, the love of his life, Ginny Hauser (who passed away on September 29th, 2009), his parents, sister, brother-in-law and his dog/ever present companion, Bo.

        He is survived by his loving family including: son, Ed Hauser III (wife, Deborah); daughter, Kathy Pratt (husband, Jamie); daughter, Ginny Miller (husband, Bill); son, Evert Hauser (wife, Dawn); grandchildren: Ed Hauser IV ( wife, Leah), Bradley Hauser (wife, Taryn), Lana Hauser, Jason Pratt (wife Aleksandrina), Ryan Pratt, Dylan Pratt, Christopher Hall, Ellen Miller, Claire Miller, Mac Miller, Cullen Hauser and Olivia Hauser; and great grandchildren: Bradley Hauser II, Barrett Hauser, Monte Rudy-Davis, Sawyer Rudy-Eden and Edgar William Hauser V "Liam"; niece, Marie Theres Moore and nephew, Pierre deTarnowsky (wife Andrea); great nieces and nephews: Justin deTarnowsky, Cami Moore and Win Moore; and his beloved cat Houdini.

        Ed attended Park Elementary School, Culver Military Academy (where he was a member of the elite Black Horse Troop and the track team). He graduated from Shortridge High School and attended Butler University (where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity) until he was drafted. He served with the Air Force National Guard in Germany during the Korean War after which time he went into business with his father at EW Hauser Construction.

        As a General Contractor and President of EW Hauser Construction, Ed was responsible for building several of the public schools in and around Indianapolis, as well as the Science Hall at Manchester College and the Howard County Hospital in Kokomo, IN. He also was president of Oil-Way Corporation, and Hitzelberger Supply Company.

        He was very active in his community including membership at Second Presbyterian Church, The Murat Shrine (50 year member and past shrine director), the American Legion, AASR Northern Masonic, Scottish Rite NMJ and the Millersville Lodge No. 126 of Indianapolis; he was a past member of the Columbia Club, Athletic Club, Optimist Club, Lambs Club and Starlight Dinner Club.

        Ed was an avid car collector and race car driver who enjoyed romps with his family in his WWII jeep through the hills and vales of Brown County and boating on many Indiana lakes. He was also a Colts, Pacers, IU, Purdue, and Butler University sports fan.

        Services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple 1305 E. Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46220.

        Visitation will be on Sunday, July 28th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Monday, July 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

        The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. on July 29th at the funeral home, followed by interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.
