Ronald Gales Gives Lake Maxinkuckee A New Look

Ronald Gales, Indianapolis manufacturer, who with Mrs. Gales and theri daughter Bernadette, are summer residents of 2480 East Shore Drive, have given Lake Maxinkuckee a new look in water transportation. And their many firedns think it is wonderful

Mr. Gales has acquried a unique motorized pontoon, 8 X 20 feet in size, powered with a 10 horsepower outboard engine, that amply accomodates 16 passengers, relaxing in deck chairs. The floating craft is covered by a brightly colored canopy, protecting all from the hot sun's rays - 13 Jun 1957

The Ronald Gales Voted Year's Most Generous Hosts

Mr. and Mrs RonaldGales, Lake Maxinkuckee summer residents of 2480 East Shore Lane, have been voted the "most perfect and generous hosts of a lifetime" by 35 local couples, all but five whom are affiliated with Culver Military Academy

It all happened yesterday between 7:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. when ROnald and CLara Gales took 70 of their firends on a free "all expense" outing to CHicago and Arlington Park for a delightful day of pari-mutuel horse racing.

Two charted air condition buses of the Indiana Motor Bus Company took the happy throng on the trip. The 95 degree weather was hardly noticed either on the bus or at the Arlington Park club house which was also air conditioned. Attendents on each bus served cool beverages both goung and coming.

First stoop was at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in CHicago where the host and hostess had engaged the beautiful private Waldorf Roomd for a delicious brucn.

On the way to the race track, Mr. Gales, an eminently successful Indianapolis industrialist who came up the hard way distributed $14 to each couple to bet as they wished. WInninngs in one case topped $500.

On the return trip the party stopped at Phil Smidt's famous restaurant at Whiting where wonderful fish and steak dinners were served to the hungry crowd.

Col. Robert Roosow, in a few well choosen words, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Gales for thei marvelous hositality. It will be remembered that Mr. Gales last summer gave a stag party along the same lines for his Academy friends. It proved so enjoyable that he and his charming wife decided to make it "co-educational" this year.

Betweenj brunch and the trip to Arlington Park the guests had 1 1/2 hours to themselves in the Chicago's loop. The sole complaint heard from an East Shore Drive lady who said: "The only thing Ronald over looked was telling me to make complimentary use of his charge account at Marshall FIeld's.

Upon their return to the Logansport Gate on the campus the gang, which had sung old favorites all the, burst int: "For He's A Jolly Old Fellow". It was a song from every heart - 26 Aug 1959

Ronald Gales Family Entertains Culver Freinds Indianapoilis

While in Indianapolis last Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Chester W. Cleveland and the latter's mother Mrs. C. E. Glass of Fort Wayne, were entertained at dinner at the Indianapolis Athletic Club by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gales, East Shore Lane Summer Residents.

Later they visited the fabulous Ronald Gales Machine Company of which Mr. Gales is sole owner. Its entire output is sold to Allison Division of General Motors Coroporation and consists of precision-made parts for jet planes and missiles.

Afterwards the Culver party were guests in the Gales home, one of the most beatuiful in the Indianapolis area. --- 2 Dec 1959 - Citizen

1960 - Oct 12 - Ronald J. Gales, an Indianapolis buiness executive who has never owned an airplane, is building an airport at Culver

Gales project, the Golden Eagle Airport. Will cost more than $250,000 before it is finished next fall and will include a half-mile long paved runway and an administation building, he said.

Gales, who has had a summer home on Lake Maxinkuckee 10 years is building the facility along Ind. 117 on the southeast side of the lake...Culver Citizen
