1958 - Otto Richter 1961 - Richter Says Ice Fishing Poorest in 50 years

    Otto Richter who was lived along the West Shore of Lake Maxinkuckee for more than 50 winters and summers, is considered an expert in matters of fishing.

    He states that the ice fishing season now in its final stages is by far the porrest he and his friend have experienced in more than 50 years. Moreover, Otto syas that good fishing during the regular season is on the decline and that he expects no improvement in the years to come.

    Mr. Richter was born in Germany on Christmas day 80 years ago but seems much yonger. He and his family moved to Peru when he was a youth and it did not take them long to find out about the wonders of Lake Maxinkuckee.

    Before his retirement he was chief of the Peru Fire Department for eight years. He likes to recall when Peru was the curcus capital of the world.
