Betty E. Howard, 87, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Indianapolis, passed away July 1, 2006 at Granite Gate resort in Prescott. Betty was born Aug. 14, 1918 in Peru to the late Ernest and Bernice Bradley

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, J. Richard Howard in 1989 and brothers Harold and Joe Bradley. Prior to marriage, she worked in journalism as a classified editor. Betty was a homemaker, enjoyed spending time with her family, playing golf, reading, needlework, Bible Studies, and she was a former member of Irvington Methodist Church, Meridian Hills Country Club and Maxinkuckee Country Club.

Betty was a wonderful Christain who loved her family and was an extraordinary example of kindness and gentleness to all who knew her. As her grandson Evan said, "Grandma was a humble farm girl always admiring the daffodils, listening for the sleigh bells and looking for the rainbows".

Betty Howard is survived by a son Bradley (Jan) Howard of Scottsdale, Ariz., and daughters: Barbara (Marty) Martyn of Prescott, Ariz. and Beth Howard of Atlanta, Ga. as well as four grandson: Jason (Janet) Howard of Phoenix, Clark (Angie) Howard of Phoenix and Evan and Kyle Kobialka of Atlanta, Ga. She was blessed with three granddaughters: Courtenay (Steve) Wagner of Indianapolis, Michelle (Shane) Hancock of Owensboro, Ky. and Whitney Kobialka of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Tori and Adam Hancock; Jake, Weston, Regan and Mia Wagner; Reese and Riley Howard and Nicholas Howard. and brothers Gerald (Louella) Bradley and Hugh and (Betty) Bradley and sister-in-law Pat Bradley.

Visitation was Friday, July 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th St. Indianapolis. Funeral service and internment the following day was limited to family.
