M. DEAN KANTZ, 77, of New Haven, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at Harborside, New Haven.
He had formerly resided in Culver and South Bend and retired from Bendix Aviation Corp.
in 1981.
He attended New Haven United Methodist Church.
The World War II U.S. Navy veteran is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Gary D. of
New Haven; a daughter, Diane C. Byrd of Dublin, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln
Hwy. E., New Haven.
Burial at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven.

Dorothy L. Kantz, 95, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Parkview Hospital - Randallia,
Fort Wayne.
Born in South Bend, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Emma (Jensen) Biro.
She was a past member of the New Haven United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She
retired in 1981 after a 23-year career as a teacher. She loved teaching and was known as the favorite
teacher to many. She especially enjoyed helping kids with reading disabilities.
She was also a past member of the Model A Club, played the organ, and loved animals.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Beth) Kantz of New Haven and Diane (Jim) Byrd of Livermore, CA;
sister, Ruth De Freeuw of South Bend; grandchildren, Justin (Alanna) Kantz, Jared (Sarah) Kantz, and
Christy Byrd; and great grandson, Dawson Kantz.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, M. Dean Kantz in 2003; and second husband, Carl McNutt
in 2011.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday at IOOF Cemetery, 1109 Hartzell Rd, New Haven.
Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Association.
