    Mrs. Sylva P: Zumbaugh, 80, of 230 Franklin died at 5 p.m. Monday in Parkview Hospital a fter a long illness.

    Born on July 21, 1894, in Marshall County, she had lived here all her life.

    On Oct. 24, 1914, she married Forrest Zumbaugh, who survives.

    Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Melton of Lomita, Calif; a son, Chalon of Plymouth; four grandchildren; two dren,and a foster sister, Mrs. Bernice Shively of Plymouth.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday the Johnson Funeral Home.

    Mary Irene Linn - Graveside services were conducted Tuesday at Green Hills Memorial Park in a 20-year rsident of the Harbor area, who died March 9, 1977, at the age of 61.

    She is survived by her husband, Cecil; a daughter Bonnie Hafele; one son Forrest Melton, her father Forest Zumbaugh, brother, Chalon Zumbaugh.

    PLYMOUTH Chalon Zumbaugh, 77, of 611 N. Liberty died at 11:45 a.m. Monday in home of his son after an illness.

    Zumbaugh retired in 1982 from Marshall County Highway Department and was a mechanic Zumbaugh Farm Equipment many years.

    He was born Aug. 1917, in Plymouth and was a lifelong resident. On June 25, 1939, in Liberty, he married Evelyn Rankert. She survives with a John G. of Plymouth; a daughter, Jane A. Snook of Fort Wayne; two grandsons.

    Mr. Zumbaugh received an 11-gallon pin as an American Red Cross blood donor.

    He a member of Plymouth Church of Brethren and a past president of Grovertown Conservation Club.

    Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church.

    Burial will be New Oak Hill Cemetery.

    Friends call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Johnson Funeral Home and one before services Thursday in church.

    Memorial contributions be made to the church, Hearthstone Hospice or Marshall County Cancer Fund.


married 25 Jun 1939 Pine Creek Parsonage, North Liberty, St Joseph, Indiana Evelyn Elsie Rankert Birth Birth Place: Marshall County, Indiana, Death 3 Mar 2014 Plymouth, Marshall, Indiana daughter of Frank M. Rankert. and Elsie Bachtel Evelyn E. Zumbaugh, 94, formerly of Baker Street, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.

Born in LaPaz on January 21, 1920, Evelyn was the daughter of Frank M. and Elsie Bachtel Rankert. She graduated from LaPaz High School in 1938. Evelyn married Chalon F. Zumbaugh in the Pine Creek Parsonage in North Liberty on June 25, 1939, who preceded her in death on December 5, 1994.

She worked as bookkeeper for the Plymouth Elevator & Coal for eight years. Afterwards she worked for Marshall County Bank and Trust, now 1st Source Bank, for 18 years until her retirement.

Evelyn was a past president of the Jefferson PTA during which time finger printing of children was initiated. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America for 50 years and she served the Red Cross and Community Chest Drives. She was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, serving many capacities through the years in the church.

Evelyn is survived by her son, John G. Zumbaugh of Plymouth, and her daughter, Jane A. Snook and her children, Gregory (Tammy) and David (Christy) Snook, all of Ft. Wayne. Also surviving are her grandchildren Cameron and Carson and a step-granddaughter, Melanie (Glenn) Colwell and their children Dylan, Dawson and Raegan of Ft. Wayne. Her brother Frank E. Rankert of Kokomo and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Crystal Metsker, Helen Tracy, Aleta Ferrell, Francis, John, Densel and infant brother Aaron Rankert.

Memorial services will be held from 12 – 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow in the funeral home at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Paul Nye.

Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery.
