Mr. Robert Bruce Volkert, 78, passed away August 25, 2015 in Vero Beach.
He was born and reared in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Harold and Ruth Volkert.
Robert lived in Indian River Shores Florida with his wife Joan the past 15 years.
He was a retired Business Owner in the graphic arts industry.
Robert graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1955 and Northwestern University in
1959. He was an active member and alumni of Culver Military Academy where he and his
wife Joan spent summers from 1999 through 2015.
Robert was Owner and President of FN Volkert and Co. FNV was a family owned business
in Chicago his Grandfather started 1898.
He later owned The Form House a successful graphic arts business also in Chicago.
Robert was also very involved in athletics as a coach, participant and fan. He loved
the Blackhawks, Cubs, Bears and Northwestern Wildcats. He was president of the Wilmette
Baseball Association, Wilmette Hockey Association, Member of North Shore Country Club.
Additionally Robert was an Elder at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago.
Survivors include his wife Joan Volkert of Indian River Shores, first wife
Sally-Volkert-Bissell of Northfield, Il, three sons; Jeffrey Brian Volkert and wife Amy
of Denver, CO, Christopher Todd Volkert and wife Holli of Lake Bluff, IL and Robert Scott
Volkert and wife Shelley of Grand Rapids, MI. Three step-children; Leanne, Lisa and David
and 13 grandchildren also survive.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Robert’s name to the American
