Ruth E. Walker

Ruth E. Walker, 101, of Culver, passed away on December 25, 2022, at Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.

Ruth was born on April 24, 1921 in Geronimo, Oklahoma, one of eight children born to John and Vernie (Skaggs) Lewis. After graduating high school she met and married Thomas K. Walker Sr. on July 11, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Their union was blessed with one son, Thomas K. Walker II. They enjoyed over 60 years together before Tom's passing in September 2006.

After moving to Culver, Tom ran a taxi service for many years while Ruth spent 28 years working in the Uniform Dept. at Culver Academies.

Later in life, Ruth served as Executive Director for Culver Real Meals for several years, alongside her trusted assistant, Jeanette Geiselman. Ruth had a passion for serving the elderly by providing a place to come together for a meal, entertainment and informative speakers on topics that would interest the seniors. She gave Real Meals her heart and soul for as long as she was able. The redheaded Okie did everything she could to make seniors lives better.

Ruth is survived by her son: Father Thomas K. Walker II of Plymouth, Indiana and grandchildren: Alda VanLeeuwen, and Karen, Mark, Catherine, and Deborah Walker, as well as many great- and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and grandsons Steven and Dean Walker.

Memorial services will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:30 pm.

Memorial contributions may be given in Ruth's memory to the Wesley UMC childcare ministry.
