Mr and Mrs. J. Rex Mawhorter of 7545 Cuyamaca, Lemon Grove, Calif., formerly of Culver, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 25th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Harrel of LaMesa.

Mr. Mawhorter was postmaster at the Culver Military Academy for 43 years. A World War I veteran, he has been a member of the American Legion for some 50 years.

The Rex Mawhorters To Live In California

Mr. and Mrs. J. Rex Mawhorter, longtime and well-known Culver ites who resided for many years at 307 State Street, left Monday morning to reside in California at 7 545 Cuyamaca Drive in Lemon Grove.

Mr. Mawhorter retired Aug. 31, 1962, from his duties as post master at Culver Military Academy after 43 years of service. Rex is a charter memiber of the William A. Fleet, Post No. 103, American Legion and Mary is a charter member of the Legion Auxiliary. She is also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 6919.

Needless to say, this popular Culver couple will be greatly missed, but they look forward to living near their daughter and her family and renewing family ties.

Mr. and Mrs. Mawhorter have been honored with various parties and dinners and it is their hope that their Culver friends and neighbors will keep in touch with them at the above address, filling them in on Culver news and events.
