James "Jim" Richard Reed 85, of Carmel, was called to his eternal home in Heaven on April 20, 2016 following a brie illness with leukemia. He died at home which was his final wish.

Jim was born June 17, 1930 in Anderson, IN to Walter L. and Mary Alma (Owens) Reed.

Jim was a graduate of Anderson High School, and attended Purdue University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as Corporal from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He was chosen to serve stateside at Camp Pendleton, CA.

Jim was part owner and livestock buyer of M&R Livestock Company at the Indianapolis Stockyard for more than 30 years. Later, he was employed for a number of years by United Livestock Company.

Jim was a 46 year member of Central Christian Church in Carmel, where he served as a Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and mowed the grass for over 30 years. Later became the Building and Grounds Director from 2000-2007.

Jim was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing.

He was a devoted son, brother, cousin, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. Jim's love and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, W. Robert Reed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon (Smith) Reed, whom he married on May 24, 1969; daughters, Paula (Jerry) Stockton of Noblesville and Dawn (Mike) Clinton of Fishers; grandchildren, Meghan (Brendan) Mosey, Ashley Clinton, Brandon (Jessica) Clinton, James (Erin) Stader; great-grandchildren, Hudsen and Roslyn Mosey, Rylan and Sawyer Stader and Ava Clinton; sister, (Phil) Kreegar, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. in Central Christian Church, 1242 West 136th Street, Carmel.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the church with one hour of calling prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Richard Clark, Graham Richards and Pete Howard are officiating.

A family committal service will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be given to Central Christian Church Building Fund or the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. Envelopes will be available at the church.

The Reed family wishes to express their appreciation to Premier Hospice for the kind and considerate care given to Jim. God Bless All.
