Section 21 History 1835-1922

This at one time bore the address of 316 S. Plymouth st.; for a while it seemed to be bouncing back and forth between the two addresses in the 1990-2011 time period

the 1906 sandborn map of the area shows but the shapes of the houses differ in shape the middle one could of been this address, with no lot lines visible it is an educated guess

The 1922 plat map shows that M. R. Cline owned the property


1924 Sanborn map South Plymouth Street area. 314 S. Plymouth could be the Hampton House. The 1937 Sanborn map showed no visible changes to the area


1964 -199_ - "Bob" M. E. & Thelma Scott Hodges

1976 - The Pennsylvania Railroad track was abandoned and lot owners on South Street and the west side of the lake purchased the right-of-way between their property and the lake.

The Maxinkuckee West Side Property Owners, Inc. was formed to procure and buy up the railroad prperty along the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee from Plymouth St. to the end of South Street ending at West Shore. Dr.

the new house to the north 308 S. Plymouth which was the Hampton property. The Hodges property (highlighted in blue and yellow) still showing structures exisiting.


By 2005 the house was tore down & was an empty lot until 2011


1997,Aug-2009 - Lawrence E. Hiler, also owned the south at 206 Mill st.

    Commencing at a cross in concrete located at the Southwest corner of Lot No. 1 in said Cromley's Addition; thence South 0 degrees 0030' West, 176.45 feet to a capped 5/8 iron reinforcing rod at the Southwest corner of the Jerry D. Semler Quailfled Personal Residence Trust parcel as recorded in Inst. No. 200402942, Office of the Marshall County Recorder and the point of beginning of this description, said point being located on the West line of said Lot No. 9 in Crornley's Addition; thence North 89 degrees 4657 East along the South line of said Semler Trust parcel a distance of 199.54 feet to a capped 5/8 iron reinforcing rod on the Westerly line of the former Vandalia Railroad right-of-way; thence North 87 degrees 1404 East along said Southerly line a distance of 110.86 feet to the Westerly shoreline of Lake Maxinkuckee; thence for the following four (4) courses along said shoreline; 1) South 20 degrees 1652 East, 20.25 feet;
    2) South 8 degrees 5155" East, 50.18 feet;
    3) South 32 degrees 2819' East, 6.72 feet;
    4) South 5 degrees 5316" East, 18.91 feet to the
    North line of the William C. Rhodes and Cheryl A. Rhodes parcel as recorded in Inst. No. 9810568, Office of the Marshall County Recorder; thence South 89 degrees 33'37" West, 330.59 feet to a 1 1/2" iron pipe at the Northwest corner of said Rhodes parcel, on said West line of Lot No. 9; thence North 0 degrees 0030" East, 89.49 feet to the point of beginning, containing 0.66 of an acre, more or less. Subject to all easements, rights-of-way and restrictions of record.
