"The Elevator"
1889 – Sep 5 - Argos Reflector - H. G Thayer & son are erecting ice house on their business lot
near Marmont and adjacent to the lake and the Vandalia railroad and will engage in that business
there next winter
1894 - James Castleman,... has entered into partnership with Mr. Cass Dillon, they having leased
the elevator of H. G. Thayer & Son, and will continue the business at the old stand...
1896 - Dillon & Castleman have closed the elevator and will try no more grain at this place
Marmont Grain Elevator - H. G. Thayer & Son., 1897
1905 - Mar 9 - L. C. Dillon and S. E. Mebourn have purchased the elevator.
We have not learned what the disposition will be made of it
1906 - Dec 22 - The Culver City Grain and Coal Co./ S. E. Medbbourn and
son, Harry Medbourn
1908 - April 2 - The railroad has instituted preparations for the erection of a freigt depot
near the elevator
1908 - Apr 2 - Work has commenced on a cement, line and plaster hous at the
elevator. Th building will be 6-x18, concrete to the level of a car floor and
wood above. It will be divided into three rooms and will be thoroughly substantial
structure
1912 - June 6 — A New Deal At Elevator the sale of the grain, coal, flour
and cement business of S. E. Medbourn and Son to
Erza Hawkins.
1913 - Aug. 14 - Castleman & Williamson has taken over the elevator on a years
lease. Hawkins & Marshall will continue the buisness
1914 - Culver City Grain & Coal Company -
1916 - Feb. 17 - Ezra Hawkins has decided not to sell the elevator. It has
been rented to Lloyd Hawkins
