Mr. McKesson is the local Ford dealer and likes to remember back to the days where there
was no ised car market and selling a car was a very simple matter.
He came to Culver in 1920, opening an agency in the Warner building, espanded into the
garage business in 1932 in the
Medbourn building and moved
into his his present location on
Lake Shore Drive in 1937.
"Mac" is a graduate of Indiana Univesity and taught school for six years before entering
the business worl. He is now chairman of the town board of trustess, member of the
township library board and has served as secretary and vice-president of the Chamber of

A, R. McKesson lies Following Long Illness
Alva R. McKesson, 73, 456 Lakeview St., Culver, died at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13,
at the Haven Hubbard Memorial Home, New Carlisle, Ind., where he had resided for
the past two weeks.
He had been in ill health for the past year.
Mr. McKesson, known to his many friends as "Mac", was a member of the Culver Emmanuel
Evangelical United Brethren Church, the Henry H. Culver Masonic Lodge, the Emily Jane
Culver Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, The South Bend Scottish Rite, and the W.
A. Fleet American Legion Post of Culver. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, a
Past Patron of the O.E.S., and was an active worker i n the Gideon organization.
He was born Sept. 1, 1891, at Tyner, Ind. , to William and Eliza (Carpenter) McKesson.
He came to Culver in 1920 where he was the Ford dealer and owned and operated the A. R.
McKesson Ford Garage until his retirement in 1955.
He was married in 1937 to the former Zella Albert who died Sept. 10, 1960, as a result
of an automobile accident.
Surviving are three brothers, D. L. McKesson, Plymouth, Harley MaKesson, Miami, Fla., and
Arthur McKesson, Walkerton; and two sisters, Mrs. Ressie Maxey, South Bend, and Mrs. Edna
Meyer, New Carlisle.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Culver Emmanuel
Evangelical United Brethren Church with Rev. Charles Haney, former pastor of the church,
assisted by Rev. Dwight McClure, pastor, officiating .
Masonic graveside services followed at the Culver Masonic Cemetery with the Henry H .
Culver Lodge 617, F & A M in charge of the services.
The Emily Jane Culver Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star conducted memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Monday at
the Easterday-Bonine Funeral Home which was in charge of arrangements.

McKesson are none the less sincere.
Alva R. McKesson and Elsie Curtus were married at noon of Feb. 7, 1922 at
Cassopolis, Mich., by Rev. M. H. Petit, the Baptist clergymnam.
Mr. McKesson is one of CUlver's leading business men and his bride is a
woman of very pleasing personality with a host of warm friends among the
circle of acquaintances which her lonf residence in Culver has attracted
to her, and who will wish her and her hucband a very happy future.

Zella McKesson Dies Saturday
Town Board President's Wife Dies in Michigan
Mrs Zella McKesson, age 58, wife of Alva R. McKesson, 456 Lakeview St., died Saturday
at Barage County Memorial HOspital, L'ANse, Mich, of injuries reveived in a one-car
accident which occurred near L'Anse Saturday morning.
Mr. and Mrs McKesson were on a vacation trip and Mrs. McKesson had been driving for a
short time when the car slipped off the pavement on to a soft berm causing her to lose
control of the car which turned over, throwing her out. She died of internal injuries
soon after reaching the hospital.
Mr. McKesson was pinned under the car, but was able to get himself out. His injuries
consisted of a had head cut and brusies, but he was able to return to his hime here.
Mrs. McKesson was born in Union townshop, Marshall county, on March 9, 1902 and spent
her entire linfe in this community.
She was a member of Emmanual Evangelical United Brethern CHurch and had served as choir
director there for several years.
She was a member and [ast matrion of the Emily Jane Culver Chapter, Order of the Eastern
Star, a member of Culver City Club, and had served as mother advisor of the Culver Assembly,
Order of Rinbow Girls.
Surviving with her husband are two borthers, Homer and Howard Albert both of Culver and one
sister Mrs. Ines Lichtenbarger of SOuth Bend
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at EMmanuel Evangelical Unite Brethern Church with
the pastor. Rev. Vernon L. Palmer officiating.
Internment will be at the Culver Masonic Cemetery
