From the Logansport Daily Journal page 3 dated Aug. 27, 1882:
    All the preliminaries for the extension of the Logansport branch of the Vandalia railway to Lake Michigan have been satisfactorily adjusted, and upon compliiance with a few easy conditions the contact will be closed, and the work will be commenced and pushed to completion.

    Readers of the Journal are familiar with the route of this line to Marmont (Maxinkuckee), and will have no difficulty in following it to South Bend and the lake...
    With these advantages before them, our citizens are asked to consider one of the conditions above named, which condition is that the right of way shall be furnished free to the new line thorugh our county. The estimated cost of this right of way is from $7,000 to $10,000 and it is proposed to raise the amount by subscription. A consideraable portion of this subscription has already been secured, and a committee appointed for that purpose will make an effort to raise the remainder during the present week...


1883 - Oct 6 - The.Vandalia railroad company commenced laying iron at Marmount a d ay or two ago, and-withln a short time the tract will be completed from Maxinkuckee lake to the Nickle Plate railroad, a distance of about three miles,- Logansport Pharos Tribune

The Colonade Hotel a. 8 May 1981 (formerly refered to as "the railroad resturant" which became the Ohmer House c. 12 June 1886) which burnt on 27 April 1900; as pictured in this photo would of sat off to the left, and would of probably occupied the area from Bennett's to possibly Brockey's Insurance

1904, Jun 8 - The Colonade lot, now owned by T. E. Slattery, s occupied by a promiscuous lot of tents such as lunch. lemonade and peanut, also a barber shop.

1946 - Jun 12 - Marshall Buys Former Slattery Property
    James Marshall has purchased the property owned by the Slattery estate oppostie the town park on Lake Shore Drive.

    The lots extend from the Coffee Shop to the Shively Apartments and from Lake Shore Drive to Pearl Street.

    No Change in present tenants is contemplated.

    As soon as possible a building is to be erected next to the Shively Shop to house the General Sheet Metal Works operated by "Red" Seese.

    A Parking lot will be built in the vacant area which once housed a restaurant and dance hall. They were destroyed by fire s everal years ago.

1930 July 28 - Culver will soon have the chance to join the nation in the latest popular game, miniature golf, for a course is now being constructed on the corner of Pearl and Liberty streets by Harold Stephenson.

1955 - June 1 - Shively Develops Monile Housing Area Near Park
    Culver has a unique new nevelopement - a community of mobile houses, owned and operated by Clyde l. Shively on his large and accessible lot at the corner of Liberty and Pearl Streets, opposite the town park.

    Accomodations are avaiable for 10 mobile homes which because of their elaborate construction and fine appointments are seldom referred ot any longer as trailers.

    Three families have already taken up residence in Mr. SHively's court. They are expect to rside in Culver for the next 1 1/2 years in connecion with the highe new building program at Culver Military Academy.

    All utilities, including water. are available.

    Mr. Shively has offered a $10 prize for the best and most appropriate name submitted for his mobile home center.

    Enteries should be mailed to him before the deadline of Thursday noon, June 9.


1955, June 1 - Wanted: A Name!
    First Prize of $10

    Having established a new community of mobile homes on my lot at the corner of Liberty and Pearl Streeta in Culcer opposite the Town Park is has been suggeted that this new local housoing unit are be given an appropriate name.

    There are accommodations for 10 mobile houses, three families having already taken up permanent residence at this central and accessible location.

    All utilities, including water. are available.

    Enteries should be mailed to Clyde L. Shively, Shively's Specialty shop, Lake Shore Drive, Culver, before the deadline of Thursday noon, June 9.

    In the event of a tie the prize money will be divided - Clyde L. Shively.


1955 - Jun 22 - Parkview Trailer Haven Prize-Winning Name
    Mrs. Cary Cummins submitted the prize-winning name of Parkview Trailer Haven for Clyde L. SHively's new mobile home community at the corner of Pearl and Linerty Sts.

    Mrs. Cummins won $10 as first prize in the contest which had a suprisingly large number of enteries as a result of Citizen publicity.


It still was often refered to as Shively's Trailer Court/Park.

1965 - Tiny Beauty Shop - Located Shively Trailer park


Today the address is 419 Liberty Street -

It was said that a party bought it because a close by business was interested in procuring it to expanded it into a parking and storage area for their business. This party had the modular installed on to the property.
