Plaque Given to Town in Burn's Memory
The late David B. Burns was honored Saturday at a service in the fire station during
which his widow Judith, presented a plaque to the town.
The plaque will be placed
on the exterior of the building. Burns died Aug. 23, at the age of 81.
The Rev.
Don Wagner, the speaker, chose as his text John 15, vs. 112-17. The them of the text
is that the disciples were told to love one another and that greater love has no
man than to lay down has life for a friend. Firemen are called upon in their
duties to enter burning homes despite whatever fear and uncertainty they may fell,
Wagner said. They rush on to face each emergency, he added.
Attending the service
were members of Burns' family, members of the fire department and two members of
the Culver Town Council, Bernard Busart and John Sage.
Fire Chief Lance Overmyer
presided and introduced the speaker. He also accepted the plaque on behalf of the
fire department.
