1931 - Dec 16 - Open Grocery Store - A grocery store has been opened by George Spangler and Fred Thompson in the Blue Front Store. They have been busy for the past week remodeling and stocking the shelves.

1935 - Oct 30 - George Spangler and son, Bryon, have leased the Kemple Service Station and took over the operation of the business Monday.

George McQuat Spangler, age, 72, died at his home on Lake Shore Drive, last wednesday afternoon.

He had been in poor health for about two years and on Satruday he suffered a stroke of apoplexy.

He was born in Maxinkuckee, and spent his entire life in Union township

1920 he moved from his farm to Culver where he operated a taxi business for a number of years> Later he owned a automobile service station, which he operated till laast February, when he retired from business.

He was a member of the Maxinkuckee Methodist church and a charter member of the Maxinkuckee Odd Fellows Lodge

Surviving are the widow Maggie, one son, Bryon B. Spangler of Indianapolis; two sisters Mrs. Laura E. Babcock of Rochester and Mrs. Nettie Blair

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the residence with Rev. Hillary Howel of the Maxinkuckee church in charge, assisted by Rev. Ralph M. Jones of the Culver Methodist Chuch.

Burial was in the Poplar Grove cemetery. - Oct. 1944 - Citizen

Margaret Christine SPangle was orn on November 21, 1867 at Otterbein, Indiana and departed this life at her home in Culver on August 21, 1948, at the age of 80 years and nine months.

On September 30, 1896, she was united in marriage to George Spangler and moved to the Maxkinkuckee and Culver neighborhood.

She is Survived by one son Bryon of Indianapolis, and a sister Mrs. Laura Gauger and a brother Frank Knaauer both of Lafayette, Indiana.

She was a member of the Maxikuckee Church where she attended as long as she was able; the Home Economoics Club and the W. S. C. S.
