Trinity Lutheran Church  



The church is a part of the Lutherna Church-Missouri Synod, the Indiana/Northern Kentucky District.

The church organized about 1941 in Culver according to the not-for-profit filing says it has existe for 76 years. but a contradicition to this statement is that: Jim Harper, leading the historical lesson in Trinity, also commented on the oddness of Culver not having a Lutheran church up to the 1950s,

During the early years befor they built this church they held their services in the basement of the Carnegie library at 107 N. Main

Trinity Lutheran Church on Academy Road held its first worship service Nov. 30, 1958 in the basement of the Culver Public Library.


1958 - Nov. 26 - Lutherans Begin First Services Here Sunday
    The Lutheran Christians of the Culver an Maxinkuckee area will hold their first worship service, Nov. 30, at 4 p.m. at the public lubrary auditorium.

    This begiining of the Lutheran worship in this community is the result of intensice prepration by Lutheran laymen of the area. Interest in establishing a Lutheran congergation in Culver was initiated about six or seven years ago. at that time, it did not seem feasible to begin public worship. Recently lay interest reopened the efforts to begin services here. The Lutheran community services will be conducted by the Rev. Delmar O. Kruger of St. John Lutheran Church at Rochester. The first sermon will be preached by Pastor Kruger on the theme, "Our Message - - the Cross; Our Goal - - Heaven.

    Mrs. Edward Schultz will serve as pianist for the congregation.

    First Meeting ON Nov. 2

    The Establishing of the Lutheran public worship in Culver was officially begun on Nov 2 at tbe library with neighboring pastors of the Lutheran Church and Dr. Walter Birkner, mission secretary of the Central District of the Lutheron Church - Missouri Synood.

    An arrangements committee was appointed by the group to secure the necessary equipment for the initial service. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schultz, Mr. amd Mrs. Hugo Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs Herman Sims served on this committee. The alter that will be used in the services has been donated by a Lutheran family of the area.

    The Lutheran community service is begun under the auspices of the Lutheran Church - Missour Synod, in the second largest Lutheran body in America. The MIssouri Synod Lutherans are know for their sponsorship of "The Lutheran Hour" on the radio and "This is the Life" on television. Dr. J. W. Behnken, president of the Synod, has reported that a new congregation is formed within the Synod on the average of one every 3 1/2 days.

    According to Pastor Krueger, the Lutheran community service is "the answer to the prayers of many people over the years, and will be a definte asset to the community

    Public Invited

    The public is corially invited to attend the initial service at the library this Sunday, Nov. 30


The church’s charter was signed March 1, 1959.

1959 - Mar 11 - Charter Service Held At Trinity Lutheran Church
    On SUnday, March 1, Trinity Lurheran church of Culver marked the formal organization of theri congregation at a speical meeting held at the library assembly room.

    In a special service of worship, a Declaration of charter was read and approved, and the charter members of the congregation stepped forward to sign the charter.

    Approzimately 26 members took part in the first signing.

    Mrs. and Mrs. Otto Stabenow, Culver, the senior members of the new congregation, had participated in a precious charter service of the Clavary Lutheran Church of Plymouth. Their signing SUnday night was the second such act in the course of their life time, as it also was with several other members of the new congregation.

    Col. Martin Ubel, chairman of the organization, announced the opening of a regular voters meeting, to be held on Tuesday evening March 10, at 7:30 p.m. Male members of the congregation, 18 years and over, are eligible to be part of the voting membership.

    The Rev. Delmar O. Krueger of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rochester, who is also servin as pastor of the Culver ccongregation, spoke to the group on the Third Chapter of Ephesians, "The Compulsion of Christain Love". Pastor Krueger said, "this should be the guiding principle in all the work of our new congregation"

    At the conclusion of the service it was announced the regular Lenten services will continue to be held each Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m. at the library assembly room. The public is invited to attend.


1961 - Sep 13 - Rev. R. J. Mueller Named Pastor of Lutheran Church

    Installation services for Rev. R. J. Mueller, new pastor of the Rochester anc Culve Trinity Lutheran churches were held recently at Rochester...Pastor Mueller and his wife, Dorothy, came to Rocheter and Culver from Salem, Ill. having served there since 1957. He was born in Altenburg, Mo. and studied for the miniestry at COncordia College in FOrt Wayne, graduating from Concordia Seminary at St. Louis in 1929....


By the end of 1968, the Culver Public Library said it needed more space, and the hunt began for land. In May, 1969_, the present land was purchased, with the first service in the newly-built structure taking place Nov. 1, 1970.

2017 - April - Rev. Tmothy Anderson. - He commutes from Ft. Wayne on SUnday and for office Hours on Thursday.

1975 - Concordia Seminary, Ft. Wayne Indiana. Has served in Nebraska, and Louisville.

He also has "Tim's Handyman Serivces.
