      1919 - Jan 1 - Arthur Simpson has bought the Mikesell restaurant. Mr. Simpson who was in cahrge of the Palmer House "candy shack" for some time, has returned from Camp taylor after 15 months service there and at Camp Sheridan, and desires to make Culver his h ome. He is a young man of energy and pleasing address, and with his capable wife in charge of the "eats" is sure to make good -

1931 - Fedb 11 - "SIMPSON AFFILIATES WITH INSURANCE CO. Arthur Simpson, employee of the academy for several years and post commander of the local post of the American Legion, has accepted a position with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. He has been given the territory of Plymouth and vicinity. He plans to continue living in Culver

1931 May 27 - Buys Coffee Shop - 622 Lake Shore Dr.
    A deal was completed last week whereby Arthur Simpson bought the Coffee Shop of Mrs. E. A. Theesin.

    The restaurant is located opposite the depot.

    Mr. Simpson took possession Monday Morning. He plans to install a modern soda fountain and to remodel and redecorate the interior of the room.


1938 - Arthur Simpson has purchased a 45-foot boat for taking passengers on trips on the lake. It will carry 65 passengers and is known as the Red Wing. (see Maxinkuckee>

    March 6, 1940 - Funeral rites were held in the Culver Methodist Church on Monday, March 4, for Arthur Simpson, Wiorld War veteran, age 46, who died late Friday night at the Veteran's Hospital in Indianapolis after having been in a critical condition since suffering a cerebral hemorage on Feb 17 1940 - Mar 3
      CULVER.-Funeral services for Arthur Reignald Simpson, aged 46, who died Friday night in Veterans' hospital, Indianapolis, where he was taken a week ago, will be held at 3 p. m. Monday in Culver Methodist church here with Dr. Frank L. Horvis officiating. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery. Mr. Simpson was born in Bristol, England, and came to the United States when 16 years old. He had resided in this community ever since. He was a member of the American legion and Masonic fraternity. Surviving are his widow, Ruth; a daughter, Betty, of South Bend; a son, Robert, at home; his father, Arthur, of Peoria, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. C. W.     Miss Celia Ruth Burns, daughter of Aaron Burns of Burr Oaks, and Provate Reginald A. Simson {Simpsom} of Camp Taylor were married on Saturday at the M. E. parsonage in Plymouth by Rev. A. C. Northrop. Mr. Simpson secured a ten-day furlough for this additional improtant evenet in his life. His bride, though just through her course of study in the Culver high school, is 23 years of age.

    Ruth Simpson Dies Suddenly, Services Today

    Mrs. Celia Ruth Simpson, 68, 403 Lake Shore Drive, Culver. died Friday, August 2, at 10 p.m. in Parkview Hospital, Plymouth, shortly after her admittance there. She had not been previously ill.

    Mrs. Simpson, nee Burns, was born just west of Burr Oak March 27, 1895, and was married in 1918 in Culver to Arthur Simpson who preceded her in death in 1940.

    Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Culver Methodist Church, the Emily Jane Culver Chapter, O.E.S. Lodge, and the Fleet American Legion Post Auxiliary.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Betty McFeely, San Diego, Calif.; and a son, Robert A. Simpson, Geneva, N.Y.; a brother, Russell Burns, Plymouth; and five grandchildren.

    Services are being held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 7, at the Culver Methodist Church with the pastor, Dr. Ronald C. Williams, officiating.

    Burial will be made in the Culver Masonic Cemetery with the Easterday-Bonine Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

      Robert Arthur Simpson, 83, went to be with the Lord April 11, 2015.

      He was born August 1, 1931, in South Bend, IN to Reginald and Ruth Simpson.

      He had one sister, Betty Freeman. He graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN.

      He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years as a personnel supervisor and retired with the rank of major.

      He then taught school for a few years and eventually, retired from Hertz.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

      Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Arlene; daughter, Kathy Simpson; son, Robby Simpson and wife Jana Simpson; 10 grandchildren, Emily and husband Aaron Keas, Grace, Joshua, Daniel, Zachary, Samuel, Laura, Hannah, Kylie, and David; and three great-grandchildren, Cadence, Carrington and Paul.

      Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Ford Funeral Service; the family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

      Funeral Services will be held at First Southern Baptist Church, 6400 S. Sooner Road, Oklahoma City, OK, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Graveside Services following at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
