1976 - The Pennsylvania Railroad
track was abandoned and lot owners on South Street and the west side of the lake purchased
the right-of-way between their property and the lake.
The picture to right shows all the six lots and easement that make up the
Schults Subdivision which was the Vandailia railroad right of way. The Pennsylvania Railroad
bankruptcy occurred on June 21, 1970. The first part of the line to go was between Nutwood and
Culver , which was abandoned in 1973 and removed in 1974. The second piece to go was from Culver
to Logansport which was abandoned in 1974 and removed in 1976. These are at present empty lots
and in back of this the West Shore Circle or Allen's Woods
The numbering system for this area varied from numbers to numbers and also some had a
just "TBA" (to be announced); the last being 375 at the south end to 501 at the north end. |
