I wanted to let you know, that my Grandparents McIlwain built their cottage in the late ‘40’s, I believe, at 484 S Shore Drive, and sold it to Richard Dugger, in 1981. Both of my grandparents were medical doctors, my grandfather was a GP, specializing in geriatrics, and my grandmother was a surgeon. When they married and moved to Marion, IN in 1926, there were many glass factories in the area, and she saw serious eye damage from the blast furnaces. She took a year of residency at Children’s Hospital of San Francisco in 1927, and then practiced ophthalmology for nearly fifty years. I have so many fond memories of “Grasmere” growing up, and still try to make at least one trip up each summer, to relive those youthful memories
