HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Dr. William A. Shuck Jr., 67, died Saturday at home.
He was born in Indianapolis to Dr. William A. and Elizabeth (Huey) Shuck. His mother survives in Indianapolis.
He was raised in Madison and was a 1962 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Dr. Shuck was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a diplomat for the American Board of Surgery.
He established his practice in Marion and was a member of the American Medical Association, Grant County Medical
Society of Indiana, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and a former deacon at Temple Congregational
Church.
He and his wife moved to Hilton Head Island in 1995, where he was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society,
Long Cove Yacht Club, the Low Country Weavers Guild and a choir member of Providence Presbyterian Church.
Also surviving are his wife, Cecilia M.; children, Lara (John) Vielee, Indianapolis, and Andrew, Marion; a stepson,
Andrew D. (Sue) Kopanski, Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Ann M. (John) Georgesen, Mason, Ohio, and Angela C.
Kopanski, Indianapolis; a sister, Susan (Bill) Allman, Indianapolis; and three grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Shuck.
Services are at 10 a.m. today in Providence Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island. A celebration of life
honoring Dr. Shuck will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Hostess House, 723 W. Fourth St.
