John B. Holland, 65, Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Peru, died Friday in Naples, Fla.
He was the owner of the John B. Holland and Son Sheet Metal Co., which is now
operated by his son, John W. Holland.
He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, a World War I veteran, a
member of the K of C, Eagles and Elks Lodges, Fourth Degree, Mannechor, and
the Literary Aid.
He was born Jan. 29, 1901, in Peru. His marriage on Sept. 11, 1922, was to Martha
West, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Mrs. James Murphy, Mrs. Robert Hight, and Mrs. Dale
Smiley, all of Peru; 12 grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Rentzel,
and Earl and George Holland, all of Peru; and Mrs. Bergman Andres of Fort Meyers, Fla.
The body will be returned to the Listenberger Funeral Home where funeral arrangements

Mavis West Holland, 100, Orlando, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001
She was born in Miami County, Dec. 30, 1900, to Admiral D. West and Dora Mapes.
She married John B. Holland on Sept. 11, 1922. He died April 15, 1966.
Mrs. Holland belonged to Good Shephard Catholic Church in Orlando. She attended
Indiana University and Ball State Normal School. Mrs. Holland taught in a one-room
school at Dubinspeck and Loree.
She was a member of the W W II volunteer nurses' aides and served at Dukes
Memorial Hospital. She held honorary life memberships in Bonita Springs and the
Peru Garden Clubs. She was awarded certification as a Master Judge of flower shows
and judged in Indiana as well as southwest Florida.
She had traveled extensively, including a seven month tour of Europe.
At the age of 75 she made a trip around the world. At 78 she traveled to Alaska.
Mrs Holland did not learn to drive a car until she was 65.
Survivors include three daughters, Thelma M. Gustin, Peru, Mina Burke, Peru, and
Jo Anne Smiley, Orlando; her son, John W. "Jerry" Holland, Pompano Fla.; two
sisters, Lucille Ulery, Peru, and Eileen Kistler, Peru; nephews, David West, Jack
West, Lewis West, Bob West, Tipton, Ted Mattingly, Mich., and Jim Kistler, Peru;
three nieces, Dolly West, Carol West, and Eileen Smith, Mich.; grandchildren, Joy
and James Pirino, Bob and Julie Thrush, Joe and Marcy Smiley, Jeff and Laura Smiley.

She was preceded in death by er brothers, Everett West, Kenneth West, Eugee
West and Lewest; a sister, Frances Mattingly, a grandson Jay Smiley; a
great-grandson, Brandon Bobel; four sons-in-law, James O. Murphy, Robert E Hight,
Dale Smiley, Dick Gustin and Ernie Burke.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wdenesday at St. Charles Catholic Church.
Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Home.
