It was built in 1950 by Sperry's as just a bait shop and then expanded to include
a grill for sandwichs; about Sperrys Restaurant was built by the family in 1964
1966 - March 17 - Legal Notice Notice is hereby given that Mr. & Mrs. James W.
Sperry have filed with the Culver Zoning Board of Zoning Appeals a request for a
variance to allow them to put a Sandwich Shop in the East End of their present
business establishment known as the Sperry Bait Shop. Interested parties will be
heard on said petition at a public hearing to be held by the Culver Board of Zoning
Appeals in the Town Hall, March 28, 1966 at 7:30 p.m. ROBERT BOSWELL ,

At first they had just a window and no seating.
Margeurite Sperry done the cooking and customers liked the sandwiches so
the expanded to have a kitchen and a little dinning room area that seated
about 40 people and began serving breakfast for the fisherman who traded
there and then finally to a full restaurant ; which Sperry's operated for 9
years.
1967 - Sperry Restaurant Adds Attractive And Spacious Dining Area
The Sperry Restaurant, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. James
Sperry at 545 South Ohio Street, has recently opened an enlarged
dining room. Attractively paneled and carpeted in red, this new dining
area adds inviting space to their counter service.
Specials offered on their menus include buckets of chicken and
homemade pies.
The Sperry Restaurant maintains daily hours from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
and is closed on Tuesdays. Carry out service is available by calling

1969 - May 9 - Verl McFeely related a request in regard to the street condition
in front of Sperry's Restaurant....
Mr. Sperry also requested permission to dig a well on his property in as much as
the fish bait he sells cannot survive in town's water. He was advised to contact
the State Board of Health since the town has no authority in this matter...
It is said the it was Wally who approached Ed Pinder about owning a resturant -
Margeurite did not want to sell
Marguerite Sperry stayed on after the Pinder's bought the resturant.
