Marguerite L. [COOK] SPERRY ALBER, 81, 1729 Wabash Ave., Rochester, formerly of the Talma and Plymouth area, died at 7 p.m. Friday at her home.

Born to Elmer and Lula LANDIS COOK in Farmer City, Ill., she married James W. SPERRY on Oct. 31, 1933 in Rochester. He died on Dec. 1, 1986. She later married L.G. ALBER on Aug. 26, 1989 in Plymouth; he survives.

Mrs. Alber owned and operated Sperry's Restaurant, Culver , for many years with her late husband. She also cooked for the Culver school system and the Holiday Inn Restaurant in Plymouth.

She was a member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren, and she had attended the Talma United Methodist Church.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Nancy SCHRIMSHER and husband Sam, Alba, Texas, Elizabeth GROSSMAN and husband Delbert, Plymouth, Dawn WOOTEN, Millersburg; Three sons, David L. SPERRY, Plymouth, Frank L. SPERRY and wife Beverly, Michigan City, James Phillip SPERRY and wife Carol, Hebron; one sister, Ruth SEDAN, Archbold, Ohio; one step-daughter, Phyllis ALBER, Rochester; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and two brothers, Dale [COOK] and Willard COOK.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Foster and Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Rev. Jean McCAN will officiate. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Sunday or one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Reichter Cemetery, northeast of Rochester. Memorial may be made to the Hope Hospice or the Talma United Methodist Church.
