Joanne Toeppe Johnston, age 77, of Naples, FLa., died March 10, 2007. She was born Nov. 8, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Helen Toeppe.

Joanne graduated frp, Frankfort Indiana High School and attended St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Lafayette where she graduated as a registered nurse. She also attended DePaul University in Chicago, Ill. Joanne was a neuro-surgical scrub nurse for several years at Billings Hospital at the University of Chicago.

She then moved to Indianapolis where sh met her husband Jerry J. Johnston.

They have seven children who survive: J ulie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Jennifer (Richard) Luttrell of Culver ; Jeffery (Brigida) of Argos; Joel of Zionsville; Jill (Leroy) Ash of Logansport; Jared (Meyla) of Sandpoint, Idaho; and Jack (Anne) of Culver . She is survived by 12 grandchildren.

Joanne enjoyed needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles, bridge and gardening.

She and her husband lived in Culver for 40 years.

She also lived in Costa Rica for 10 years then moved to Naples, Fla.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and a niece she and Jerry raised.


Funeral services will be private. NAPLES, FL - Joanne (Toeppe) Johnston, 77, of Naples, Florida, died Saturday, March 10th, 2007.

She was born Nov 8, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Helen Toeppe.

Naples, Fla. - Jerry Joseph Johnston, 80, died Tuesday April 1st in Naples, Fla.

Suffering from cancer, he fought the good fight until the very end. Jerry was born Oct. 21, 1927 in Indianapolis, to parents Fred andAnna Johnston.

He was married July 5, 1957 to Joanne Toeppe, who preceded him in death on March 10, 2007. Jerry was a veteran of the U. S. Army

After the war he joined his father's company in Indianapolis, Construction Digest, where he was instrumental in growing the company into a multi-state regional publication. After 40 years in the industry, he retired as an individual investor in Culver .

He spent his leisure time on Lake Maxinkuckee with his family, playing gold with firends and traveling extensively with his beloved wife. Jerry was an excellent cook and took pride in providing for his family in any way he could. For a number of years he spent winters in Costa Rica before settling in Naples, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Michelle Teoppe, who he and Joanne raised.

He is survived by seven children, Julie of Colorado Springs, Colo; Jennifer (Richard) Luttrell of Culver , Jeffery (Brigida) of Argos, Joel of Zionsville, Jill (Leroy) Ash of Logansport, Jared (Melya) of Sandpoint, Idaho and Jack (Anne) of Culver . He is also survived by a sister Mary Anne Howard of Indianapolis; brother Fred Gordon Jr. of Indianapolis; and 13 grandchildren.
