Clifford Overmyer
If you see an athletic contest going on in Culver you may be sure you'' find Clifford Overmyer in the lineup, for he is one of the
most active of local atheletes. Right now he is managing and playing on the league-leading Shell softball team and managing the
Culver entry in the county baseball league. During the winter he is busy on the basketball floor, where he was been a star performer
for years.
After reading this your would take it for granted that he was an outstandingathlete in his high school days, but as Cliff himself
remarked with a laugh, "Why, I couldn't even make the second, team, much less eas a letter," It was a couple of years after his
graduating that he developed his athletic talents.
Cifford was born in Chicago, but has lived most, of this life in thins communtiy. He became connected with the Shell Service station
1921, and a few years later was apponted manager, the position he how holds.

Private funeral services are set for Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in
the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home for Clifford L.Overyer, 59,
Lake Manitou.
The Rev. Graham Marsh will officiate and burial will be in the
I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mr. Overmyer was found dead Saturday evening in his home at Poet's
Point on the north shore of Lake Manitou. Dr. Dean K. Stinson,
deputy Fulton county coroner, said that death was due to a
self-inflicted shotgun wound in the abdomen about 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
Born June 5, 1904, in Chicago, Mr. Overmyer was the son of George
and Orpha McFarland Overmyer and had lived in the Rochester community
17 years, moving from Culver.
He was employed at Indiana Metal Products company here.
His first marriage was to
Ruth Braman.
His second marriage was July 3,
1947, at St. Joseph, Ill. to Lois Campbell, who survives.
Mr. Overmyer was a member of the Culver Methodist church and of the
Manitou Moose lodge.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donna Jean Hatton, Culver, and
Mrs. Billy Jean Veslick, North Judson; two step-sons, Richard Sanders,
Rocheter, and Michael Beattie, Kokomo; one step-daughter, Mrs. William
Gottshalk, Kokomo; two sisters, Mrs. Frank McLane and Miss Violet
Overmyer, both of Culver, and sevferal nieces and nephews.
