1934 - May 2 - New Movie Theare to Open Here Sunday
A New moving Picture theater will be opened in Culver on Sunday, May 6, in the Hayes
Building and will be known as "The Plams". G. R. Miller is the manadger and is in a
partnership that also operates a North Manchester theatre
The interior of the building has been completely redecorated and entirely new sound
equipment Instalalled. Mr. Miller states that he is booking only the latest pictures as
he plans to this vicinity the finest in cinema.
1935 - February 20 - Everett Hoesel to Open Move Theater Here
The Palms, local moving picture theater, will open Sunday night, March 3 under the
management of Evert Hoesel.
Changes in the heating plant and sound equipment are now being made and piuctures booked
for the future.
Mr. Hoesel has not announced the opening feature film, but states that ontly the best of pictures
will be shown here.
An interesting note that during the time era under the name Palm is that the west wall bore a painting
of palm trees.

1940 - May 15 Palms Theatre Sold; Extensive Remodeling To Be Started Soon
The Sale of the Palms Theatre by Evert Hoesel to the Culver Threatres, Inc. has been veified by A. A.
Henkel, of Chiacgo.
The new owners operate several other theatres in the state, it is understood.
Mr. Hoesel had owned the theater for several years, and for over a year has leased it to Mr. Henton,
who will continue to act as manager for the new owners for a time.
Extensive remodeling will be started within a short time, and will include a new marquee, new front,
ladies and mens restrooms, redcorate the interior, new carpests, lighting fixtures, and structureal
changes to be med in keeping with high class theatres. Air conditioning will be installed, and all seats
remodeled
The contract for the remodeling has been let to a firem that had had considerable experience in
theatre work.

Everett Hoesel this week sold the Palm Theatre in Culver to Seto Eaton of Elwood, Pa., who has taken possession. Mr. Hoesel,
who was reared in Aubbeenaubbee township, has operated the theatre for the past four years. He will conduct an insurance
