    John Aley, World War I Veteran, Died Monday

    John Samuel Aley, age 54, died Monday afternoon at the United States Veteran's hospital in Indianapolis, where he had been for seven weeks. He had been ill for several months.

    Born at Hobart, Lake county, Ind., he spent his early life there.

    In 1917 he enlisted in the army and served as a bugler in the First Division, 6th Field Artillery, serving overseas for 18 months.

    Following World War I, he returned to Hobart where he lived for two years before coming to a farm near Poplar Grove, east of Culver, in 1921. With the exception of nine years spent in Texas, he has resided in the Culver community since 1921.

    Surviving are the wife, Lulu; one daughter, Phebe Carol, at home; and his mother, Mrs. Callie Aley, Culver.

    Funeral services will be held at the Easterday Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 3:00 (DST). Rev. Elroy Gamble of Cincinnati will have charge of the service.

    Burial will be at the Culver cemetery.

    Plymouth - Mrs. Lulu E. Aley, 83, of Rt. 4 died at 8:50 p.m. Monday in Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth after an illness of seven months.

    SHe was born on Feb. 3, 1895, in Crown P oint, she married John S. ALey, who died in 1946.

    SHe is survived by a daughter Mrs. RObert McFarland of Plymouth; two grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Verna Guernsey of Hobart, Ind.

    Services will be at 2 p .m. Thursday in the Bonine FUneral HOmes, Culver, with Rev. Darrell Maddock officiating.

    Burial will be in the CUlver Masonic Cemetery.
