Rites Set For Hill City Woman
Funeral services will be held Thursday for Mrs. Lura Estelle Oberlin, resident of the Black Hills for eight
years, who died in a local hospital Sunday.
Rev. George Thomas of the Rapid City Congregational church will conduct services at 2 p. m. at the Hill City
Congregational church.
Burial will be in the Custer cemetery under the direction of the Hobart funeral home.
Mrs. Oberlin was born in Marshall county, Ind., Nov. 2, 1876.
In 1917 she of was graduated from College Chiropractic Fort Wayne, Ind., and nursed in Cook county hospital in
Chicago during World War I. After the war she returned to Indiana where she practiced until 1942, when she came
to the Black Hills to make her home near Hill City, where she lived since.
She was a former president the Atlas Society of the state of Indiana.
Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. G. Kinsel, Houghton Lake, Mich., two brothers, Rev. Everett L. Jones, Seattle, Wash.;
and Wheeler P. Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.: a foster son, Howard Clark of Hill City: four grandchildren and four

Oberlin Rites Are Held At Hill City Hill City
July 14-Funeral services were held Thursday for Mrs. Lura Estelle Oberlin, 73, who died in a Rapid City hospital
Sunday.
Rev. George Thomas of the Rapid City, Congregational church conducted services at 2 p. m., at the Congregational
church.
Pianist was Dorothy Bloom, and Ruth Denuei and Sally Caldwell sang.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Trask, Joseph Collins, Tom Burns, Clifford Schrek, Bueford Wood and William Jones.

John Oberlin, aged fifty-two years, formerly barber employed in the Sterling shop, on East
Berry street, died Friday at his summer home at Lake Maxinkuckee.
He had been in ill health for eighteen montha and for a time was a patient at a local hospital.
Mr. Oberlin had been resident of Allen county all his life and was widely known, both in the city
country.
He was a member of the barbers' union of this city and was at times actively identified with its work.
Surviving besides the widow he leaves two sons and two daughters Guy, Wilda and Blanche Oberlin, and Mrs.
Ethel Witte. Two brothers and five sisters also survive.
The remains will be removed to the residence of a' son, Guy Oberlin, 1120 Cass street, where funeral services
will be held Monday under the auspices of the barbers' union:
