    CHris Beaber Dies at Age of 95, Was Civil War Veteran

    Was Second Civl War beteran to DIe in Losbansport in Two Days. Old Hotel Man.

    Christopher C. Beaver, 95 years old veteran of the Civil War and proprietor of the Vandalia Hotel when it flourished many years ago died SUnday morning at 9:30 o'clock at his hime 414 1.2 Wall Strret, after a long illness.

    At one time he also operated a hotel at Culver.

    Beaber's passing was the second Civil War veteran's death here in two days. The other veteran to die was Exra Patton.

    During the Civil War, Beaber, who was born in Canal Dover, Ohio served in Company E. 137th Indiana and came to Loganpsort from OHio when a young man.

    Surviving are a son A. G. (Ham) Beaber of 205 West Miami Avenue; thre grandchildren: Ann. Leona and Christopher, all of the West Miami Avenue address; and a stepson William Martin of 414 1/2 Wall Street.

    The Body was taken to the Peirce ans Easterday funeral home where services will be held Wednesday moring at 10 o'clock with Rev. L. G. Jacons of the Broadway M. E. church in charge.

        Heart Attack Proves Fatal Monday Monroing to Local Resident

        Abraham G. Beaber, 70, was found dead at 10:30 o'clock at his home, 309 Pearl Street.

        ''The body was found by John Hinkle of 323 1/2 South Pearl Street. Death was due to a heart attack

        Born in Logansport in 1876, he was the sone of Mr. and Mrs. hristopher Beaber. He was employed as a painter.

        Surviving are the wife, Katherin; two daughters: Mrs. Anne Rettig, city and Mrs. Leona Modricker, city and a son Chris Beaber of Hattiesburg, Miss.

    Beaber Heirs Enter Suit Against Husband
      A suit to determine the ownership of mortages and certificates of deposits of the late Mrs. Anna Beaver was started in the Cass Circuit court before Special Judge Cole of Peru yeserday.

      The estate left is valued at $25,000. The will directed the disposal of cetain moneys and mortages but after her death it is alleged that these could not be found among the effects by Logansport Loan and Trust compant executors of the estate>

      They were in the possession of husband hristopher Beaber and William Martin. These men set ip the claim that the certificates of depost and mortages were given to them by the deceased before he death. Other heirs were not satisfied and brought this suit.

      Rabb, Mahoney & Fansler represent the trust company and other heirs; while Kistler & KIstler, George E. Ross and G. A> Gamble are counsel for defendants. - Logansport Pharos-Tribune 17 Feb 1916


    Judge Cole Gives Decision In Important Local Case
      Judge Cole of Peru was on the bench of the Cass Circuit Court this morning long enough to give his decision in the suit of the Loganpsort Loan & Tust against C. C. Beaber and his stepson William Martin, to recover a large amount of personal property of the lake Ann Beaber, which was tried here some little time ago.

      Deceased was the wife of C. C> Beaber, and died possessed of real estate worth about %15,000 and her personal propert to the value of %7,000. FOllowing her death, the personal property onsisting og notes, mortahes and certificates of depost and jewelery, found in possession of the husband and soon and they laid claim to them.

      The busband claimed joint ownership in the caulable papers and that a pair of diamond earrings, valued at $300 had been buried with deceased. There was also a cameo brooch and a watch and chain, which the son claimed as gifts.

      Judge Cole's rulling was that the notes, mortages and certificates legally belonged to the husband but that all the jewlery or its equivalent in mnoey must be turned over to the Trust company.

      The will provides that the propert shall be sold as soon as possible and the proceeds be distributed among the surviving relatives.

      Provisions of the will are now to be carried out by the Trust company and the estate settled.

      Attoroney Ben Long, who represented the Trust company, was suctodian of some of this personal proerty belonging to Mrs. Beaber and she directed him to turn it over to her husband after her death.

    Judge Cole Construes The Beaber Will
      Judge Cole of Peru occupied the local bench yesterday morning long enough to render his decision in the Beaber will case.

      The suit grew out of the dosposition of he property, which consisted of approximately $15,000 in real easte and $7,000 in personal property

      The husband claimed a some vaulable papers and jewe;ry, to which other heirs took exceptions

      Judge COle's ruling was that the motes, mortages and certificates legally belonged to the husband but that all the jewlery or its equivalent in money must be turned over to the trust company.

      The will provoides that the property shall be sold as soon as possible and that the proceeds be distributed among the surviing relatives.
