Also C. C. Beaber is mentioned as h aving a saloon at 102 S. Main and around June 1st 1895 the liquor license was requested to be transfered to him to George N. Gerard but was denied.

1890 - Aug 2 - John F. Martin's New Place
    A new and popular resort at Lake Maxinkukcee is in the new sample room recently opened by John F. Martin a few doors west of the Ohmer house near the depot.

    John has a handsome and well equiped place, with a cool retreat at he rear which was greatly enjoyed by the crowds yesterday. Several good singer kept the guests applauding continually.

    John keeps on had the best of liquors and cigars and is pushing Logansport Pale Beer to the front. Visitors to the lake will enjoy themselves by calling at John's clean and hositable resort.

1891 - Jul 21 - Mrs. C. C. Beaber. of the Westside,brought suit against her son, John Martin, for the possession of a saloon at Lake Maxinkuckee. The court decided that the defendant might retain possession for one year from June 1st. 1891.

1891 - Nov 11 - Mrs. C. C. Beaber, of the Westside, has secured possession of her saloon property at Maxkinkuckee. The Marshall Ciruit court also gave her two judgements aggains her son. John F. Martin - Logansport Pharos-Tribune

1891 - Nov 11 - Won Both Cases Two jugdements have been rendered in the Marshall circuit court in favor of Mrs. Ann Beaber, of this city, against John F. Martin In one case, possession of is awarded Mrs. Beaber of her property at Marmont, formerly occupied by John F. Martin's saloon and in the other damages against Martin on Mrs. Beaber's claim. 1891 - Nov 12 - In the Marshall circuit court two jugdements have been rendered against John F. Martin in favor of Mrs. Anna Beaber one for possession of property at Marmont, the other for damages for illegally holding said property, the defendant to pay the costs in both cases.     A Shrewed Trick Successfuly Played by Sharpers

    Mrs. Ann Beaber Victimized of Several Dollars

    Word was received her today that a successful confidence game having been worked yestrday upon Mrs. Ann Beaver, a prominent business lady of Maxinkuckee, formerly of this city. By skillful misrepresentations, two starngers obtained of her an order for $15, presentable at her place of business. Thye appeared honest, and were undoubtledly intelligent, for they immediatley went and raised the face of the order several dollars by a single strooke of the pen. They then presented it at her place of buisbess and obtained all the cash on the premises. It is needless to say that they made rapid tracks out of town and have not been heatd from since. Mrs. Beaber's many acquaintances here will learn with surprise of the occurance, as she is regarded as an extremely shrewd and careful business person. - Aug 28 1892 Logansport Pharos Tribune
      A Correction - C. C. Beaber writes from Marmont that the article in the Reporter of the 24th ins. regarding a swindle supposed to have been orperated upon Mrs. Ann Beaber is incorrect and states that the story is manufactured out of the whole cloth. In concluding Mr. Beaber says: "Mts Beaber does not issie any orders, neighter is there any orders issued against her. She pays cash for her goods, so that orders are out of the question." - Logansport Reporter 26 Aug 1892,


1892 - Apr. 13 - In the circuit court today Elliot & Co. are suing Mrs. Ann Beeber on an account of $28.02, for a bill of provisions furnished her and her son, Jno. Martin, at the saloon formerly owned by them a Marmont. The defendant denies partnership in the saloon and all li ability for the aoeounts contractec by it.

1899 - Jul 2 - Several accounting of a tragic event at the Colonade of a Balloon accident gives a rough location of the Beaber Saloon on Lake Shore Dr.:

      ...He had started on a trip to the clouds near the residence of Mrs. Beaber and when in the air about 40 feet, the movements of the balloon made him swing against the upper porch of the Colonade hotel....

      Horrible Accident

      Prof. M R . Phillips Collides With the Colonade Hotel and Falls 30 Feet....

      The fact that there would be a balloon ascension as advertised in the Herald brought a large crowd of country people to the city. The balloon was stationed between the Beeber saloon and the Colonade Hotel....


    1900 - Apr 27 ...Saturday morning at 2:30 a.m. our citizens were arroused from their slumber by the cry of fire ... the Colonade Hotel, one of the largest in Northern Indiana, was in flames. In almost the twinkling of an eye, the flames communicated with the O. C. Beaber building, just west of the hotel,....
