Lake Maxinkuckee Its Intrigue History & Genealogy Culver, Marshall, Indiana

Talman Gile 'T. G.' or 'Dick' Loudon  




You probably don' know who "T.G." is for every one calls him "Dick" He was born in Maxkincuckee, where he attended the grade school, but his high school work was done at Winamac.

Dick came to Culver 17 years agao and engaged in the operation of boats on the lake. Three years later he opened the grocery store he now operates opposite the town park. In 1932 it was closed hu the fire that destroyed the large resturant buidling next door. The following year the buisness was reopened in the new building where the above picture was taken as Dick weighed out a order of sugar.

He has had several hobbies while operating the store. For four years he was a deputy sheriff and attended the state police school at Indianapolis. He took up avation six years ago and obtained a student's license to fly. He has made several trips with the state avation tour, and helped brinf the tour to Culver one year. For five years he was manager of the local independent baseball team, which job he relinquished after he had piloted the team to a pennant. - Culver Citizen Profile
