    GARLAND BOGARDUS, 42, DIES OF HEART ATTACK FUNERAL WAS SUNDAY

    Had Been In Town But A Few Hours Before Sudden Death Shocked Entire Community.

    A sudden heart attack claimed Garland W. Bogardus, Thursday, February 14. He has been troubled with his heart for several years, but he had been up town just before noon and felt no suspicious symptoms. After eating dinner he told his wife that he felt a little weak from a recent flu siege and was going to rest.

    Shortly she heard his heavy breathing and found him unconscious. He died at 2:30 p. m.

    He was the son of Alfred N. and Evangeline Bogardus, and was born July 28, 1886, at Maxinkuckee, and died at the age of 42.

    He married Mary Olive Hayes, July 17, 1909, to which were born three sons.

    He was a member of the Masonic order and had attained the rank of Knight Templer. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. and the Eagles.

    Mr. Bogardus had spent his whole life in and around Culver and was well known in this community. He was also well acquainted over the county, due to his work as deputy sheriff for several years.

    His father and one sister preceeded him in death.

    There remain to miss his companionship, fatherly care and friendship, his devoted widow; three sons, William W., Thomas N., and Robert O.; his mother, Mrs. A. N. Bogardus; two brothers, Ralph E. of Gary, and Clark D. of Culver; one sister, Irene M., of Culver; as well as other relatives, lodge brothers and a host of friends.

    Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home, Rev. C. A. Lang officiating. Interment was in the Culver cemetery.

    Bogardus--Hayes Saturday afternoon at Rev. Miller's residence on north Walnut street Miss Mary O. Hayes and Garland Bogardus were united in marriage. Both bride and groom are residents of Culver and have many friends who will be pleasantly surprised at this announcement.
