1931 - Lt. Jackson Receives Reserve Promotion

On April 29th, Lt. C. W. Jackson of the Culver Military Academy was promoted to Captain in the 78th Brigade.

Formerly Captain Jackson was plans and training officer of the 76th Brigade. Since his propetion he was advanced to Brigade Adjuant also continuing with his former duties of plans and training officer.

Captain Jackson succeeded Major Walmer as Adjutant wher Major Walmer was promoted to the executive of the Brigade.

Funeral Rites For Col. C. W. Jackson Held at Academy

Funeral rites were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Culver Military Academy for Col. Claire Walter Jackson, age 56, who died Friday Morning at the Murphy Medical Center Warsaw.

Rev. Charles E. Allen, chaplain at the Academy, conducted the services and burial was at Asbury Chapel Cemetery near Montpelier, Ind.

Coil Jackson was born at Goldmith on Oct. 14, 1899

He was married to Miss Helen Wolverton of Montpelier on Oct. 14, 1925.

He received his A.B. degree at Ball State Teacher's College, Muncie in 1925 and his M. S. Degree at the University of Michgan in 1933.

He came to Culver Military Academy to teach in the Mathematics Department in 1927. Fomr 1933 to 1940 he had a leave of absence from the Academy and during this time he was acting PMS & T at Roosevelt Miltiary Academy, Aledo, Ill. and was commandant at Riverside Academy at Gainsville, Ga.

During World War I he was a member of the A.E.F. in France.

He graduated from the Infrantry School at Fort Benning, Ga. and was a retired member if the reserves. In 1941 he was made tactical officer of a company at the academy and he was also a counselor of a company in the Academy Summer Schools. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity

Surviving with his wife Helen are two daughters Mrs. Marianna Shuink of Cincinnati Ohio and Elaine at home; one sister Mrs. Carol Chatterton,
Los Angles; on brother Charles of Noblesville, his father Walter Jackson Harford City and two grandchildren.
