Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Burns June 2, 1932 - March 15, 2023
Elizabeth Ann Burns (Libby) passed away at her home on March 15, 2023 in Lafayette, IN.

Libby was born in Austin, TX on June 2, 1932 to the late Jack Douthitt and Blanche (nee McClary) Douthitt.

Libby married the love of her life, William C. Burns, on December 28, 1957. They moved to the L afayette area and built a family together.

Libby, a US Army veteran and published poet, was a devoted wife, mother, and a lifelong learner. Libby earned her BS from Purdue University, volunteered for local Catholic organizations, and sang in the St. Mary Cathedral Choir. As a licensed teacher she taught at Central Catholic and McCutcheon High Schools and still found time to achieve her Emergency Medical Technician certification.

Libby is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Julia, Patricia, Mary (husband Jeff), Tom (wife Karen), Minta, Angela, and John (partner Craig Gray); her sister, Patricia Dubar (husband Frank); and her grandchildren, Mar Nugent and Ava Burns.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 5:00 pm (rosary at 4:45 pm) until 8:00 pm at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN.

Funeral Mass will be March 23, 2023, 11:00 am at Saint Mary Cathedral, 1207 South Street, Lafayette, IN.

After the funeral mass Libby will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 2122 Old Romney Rd, Lafayette, IN.
