Skip" Erickson Jr., 70, of 225 Sandy Springs Road, Anderson, S.G, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday
at' Mount Hope Cemetery.
He died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, in Anderson Area Medical Center, Anderson, S.C.
Born Feb. 20, 1931, in Logansport, he was the son of
John Edward Sr. and Vera Sellhorn Erickson.
He was married to Elizabeth Kemper, who survives in Anderson.
A 1953 graduate of Butler University, Mr. Erickson received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. He
served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1957
Mr. Erickson retired from Rockwell International following 35 years of distinguished services. He had also worked
as a real estate agent with McCoy-Wright Realty, Inc., in Anderson, S.C.
He was a member of GAMAC (Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium) since 1993 where he was the tenor section
leader in the GAMAC Chamber Choir. He was a member of the Anderson Kiwanis Club where he served as past Lt
Governor and was awarded the Hixson Medal, and he was a mentor at Homeland Park Elementary School. His memberships
included the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club.
hi Cass County, hid, he was a lifetime advisory member of the Salvation Army and had served as chairman of the United
Way. He was past president of the Logansport Community School Corporation Board of Trustees.
He was also a former Kentucky resident, where he served as a Boy Scout leader in Louisville. Mr. Erickson was
awarded the Kentucky Colonel by Gov. Julian M. Carroll.
A member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson, he was an, Elder, member of the Chancel Choir and former
Clerk of Session.
In Logansport he had been an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Also surviving are three sons and two
daughters-in-law, John Edward III and ; Carla Erickson, Mishawaka, James and Sherry . Erickson, Easley, S.C., and
Michael Douglas Erickson, Darien, III.; two brothers, Charles Erickson, Logansport, and' Harry Erickson, Shelbyville;
and four grandchildren, John Edward Erickson IV and Samuel Joseph Erickson, Mishawaka, and Ashley Renee Erickson
and Rebecca Sue Erickson, Easley, S.C.
The Rev. Douglas M. Mankell will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
Services also will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson, S.C, with a reception following
in the church parlor. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today in McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson.
