    Charles H. Schaffer died last night at 8:30 o'clock at his home, No.2028 Broadway, of typhood pneumonia, after an illness of ten days, aged forty-oone years.

    The dexeased was will known in this city and especially among the travelling public, having been a commercial traveler for a number of years..

    He was in the employ of the J.. T. Elliott Company as travelling salesman for ten years and on Jan. 1, 1897, he severed his connection with that firm to accept another with the Bridge City Candy Company of this city., with which concern he served in the capacity of secretary and treasurer up to the time of his death.

    He was favorably known to a large circle of acquaintances.

    He was a member of the logansport Post, Travelers Protective Assiation; the Commercial Tarvelers Association of Indiana; the Iowa State Travelers Association; the Kiights of Khorassan and Apollo Lodge, Kights of Pythias.

    He leaves a wife and three children: Earl, Pear and Frank.

    His illness began about ten days ago with an attack of pneumonia, which was later intensified by and attack of typhoid fever. His cas was a hopless one for almos two days.
    The funearl will be held Monday afternoon and will be under the auspices of Apollo Lodge, K o P. - Pharos Tribune May 11, 1901

      Passed Away at His Home in Logansport, Indiana, May 10th, 1901.

      Charles H. Schafer was born June 8, 1SC0, at St. Joe, Missouri, died at his home in Logansport, Indiana, May 10, 1901, at 8:30 p. m. His parents, George and Paulina Schafer, moved to Inwood, Marshall county, Indiana, in July 18G7. Charles Schafer was married to Cordelia Matherson Dec. 19, 1882. He leaves a wife and three children Earl, Pearl and Frank; and three brothers George, William and Louis; and one sister Jennie, to mourn thir loss. He has been in business in Inwood and Bourbon, and moved to Logansport in July 1886, where he was employed by the J. T. Elliott Co. as traveling salesman for about twelve years. On January 1, 1S97, he severed his connection with that firm to accept another with the Bridge City Candy Co., of Logansport, with which concern he served in the capacity oi secretary and treasurer up to the time of his death. He was favorably known to a large circle of acquaintances and friends. He was a member of the Logansport Post Travelers Protective Association, The Commercial Travelers Association of Ind., The Iowa State Travelers Association, The Apollo lodge, Knights of Pythias, and the Knights of Khorassan. His recent illness began about the 2d inst. with typhoid pneumonia, and from the beginning there were indications which tended to discourage his friends, and although the best attendants possible was given him and a special trained nurse was brought from Chicago to care for him, there was a gradual but persistent decline until death finally resulted. He was buried Mondav, May 15, in Mt. Hople cemetery, Logansport, under the auspices of the Apollo Lodge, K. of P. and the Knights of Khorassan. Services at the house, Rev. Herrick, of the M.     Cordelia Schafer Dies in Chicago. Cordelia C. Schafor, widow of the late Charles H. Schafer. passed away at 8:30 o'clock Sunday Night at her home in Chicago. She was a formar rosident of tbIa city. Surviving are two Earl and Frank Schafer. both of Chicago: and a daughter, Miss Pearl Schafer, also of Chicago, Christian Science services will be beld at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the McCloskey-Ham ilton funeral bore. Interment will be made in the mausoleum at Mt. Itops cemetery. The body will Arrive at the funeral home Tuesday noon. - Pharos-Tribune Mar 31, 1947 ·
