Joseph Henry Nixon  

Joseph Nixon is retired vice-president of Nixon Newspapers, Inc. The company was founded by his father, Don Nixon, who died in an automobile accident, 1934. With his step-mother, Eugenia Hubbard Nixon, Joseph Nixon carried on and increased the publioshing business, whose headquarters are located in Wabash.

In 1942, Mrs. Eugeneia Nixon married Mark Honeywell, retired Wabash Industrialist, who founded Honeywell Regyulator Company. It later merged with Minneapolis Honeywill, Inc., now Honeywell, Inc. Me. Honeywell died in 1964.

Nixon Newspapers, Inc. is now under the presidency of John Nixon, Peru, with headquarters in Peru. Mrs. Honeywell, died February 7, 1974.

Mrs. Joseph Nixon is the former Marian Hamp of Kokomo. She came to Lake Maxinkuckee as a high school friend of the Donald F. Elliott family. She and Sally Elliott attended dances and parties at Culver Military Academy when the Elliot sons, Don Jr., and Richard attended Culver Summer School.

Don Morrison Nixon II and Joseph Henry Nixon, Jr. attended Culver Summer Naval School, Band Company, 1956, and 1962 respectively. Don graduated from Culver Military Academy in June 1960, having attended from September 1956. Joseph graduated from Culver Military Academy in June 1966, having attended from 1962. Both were in Band Company.

Mrs. Nixon was invited by Superintendent General Delmar Spivey and Dean John Henderson to be the founding president of Culver Mothers Club. She served as president 1960-1966.

Don and Joseph graduated from Indiana University with Bachelors Degrees in journalism, Master's degrees in Business. Don is married to the former Judy Kirchner, Carmel. They have five children: Angela, Scott Sander, Angelita, Erica, and Dana Nixon. Joseph's children are" Sunny and Joseph Henry Nixon III.

Joan and Eugenia Hubbard Nixon both attended Knox School, Long Island, New York. Joan graduated 1958, then attended and graduated from Wellsley College in 1965 and earned Master's Degrees in history at Indiana University, 1968. Eugenia graduated from Knox, 1963. She graduated from Indiana University School of Journalism, 1967. She served the year 1968-1969 as a volunteer Red Cross worker in Vietnam was and was stationed at Cam Ran Bay. She received a Master's Degree in conservation and recreation at Indiana University, 1971. She is married to David Fulkerson. They live in Warsaw, and have two children: Dan. and Jodi. Mr. Fulkerson is Athletic Director, Warsaw Schools. Warsaw High School, where he serves, won the Indiana State basketball tournament in 1984.

Mr. and Mrs. Nixon have an annual summer camp two weeks in July for their grandchildren. The camp staff is composed of the children's parents. Camp Aloha's program is unstructured but always include attendance at Culver Summer School Chapel, parades and Woodcraft Council Fires.

Mr. Nixon is a golf instructor.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nixon celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary at Lake Maxinkuckee, July 18, 1985.
